Estee Lauder Ultra Violet - Swatches and Review

This is my first Estee Lauder polish (I know, *faint*) and I was curious how the formula and application are and this was a pretty color that caught my eye, so it came home with me.

Of course it comes in a pretty square bottle that's quite heavy to distract you from the fact that you're getting .3 ounces rather than .5 ounces.  But they're not the only ones who do that.

Ultra Violet, I believe, is from the Spring 2011 Collection. Application is good, as is the formula, but it doesn't exceed what you'd expect for the $19 price tag. The brush is flat, which I like, but fairly narrow, which doesn't bother me, though I prefer a wider brush.  It's a deep, somewhat blackened, violet base with violet/pink micro-shimmer. It does need a top coat to bring out all of the violet shimmer though. It's okay without, but better with. But I always use a top coat anyway. And it's 4-free! (including formaldehyde resin.)

These are pre-top coat.

I'd definitely buy the brand again if the color was really REALLY unique - and the 4-free is also a plus. Otherwise, if I'm spending $19, I'll toss another few bucks in and get a Dior. I really love Dior's formula and brush.

  1. What a beautiful polish! I've been kind of quietly lusting after this - I guess because I'd probably not spend $19 on it, but I do like it. I just don't know if I like it enough to pay that much for it, haha! It's a beauty though.
