Okay, so these have been out at least a month and I've resisted getting them because, well, they're glitters. Not my favorite for a couple of reasons. 1) I'm 45 years old. Yes, I realize that doesn't necessarily make glitters off limits. I've never been one to conform to such ideas, but it's an excuse and I'm going to use it. (see reason #2) and 2) They're a PITA to remove.
But I just had to. And no. I wasn't brave enough to wear them out in public. Yet.
But they certainly are blingy! So if you like blingy, I think you're going to like these. I actually had less problems with application than I've had with most glitters. Or maybe I was just extra careful? But these photos are with no clean up and no top coat. Judge for yourselves.
First up is
Starry Pink. Oddly, I almost didn't pick this one up and it turned out to be my favorite and the one I am most likely to wear out in public! And it's two things I generally avoid. Glitter and Pink. Actually, it's a milky, slightly lavender pink base with small silver glitter and large hex glitter. Good application and more opaque than I expected. I did a small swatch of it alone and decided to put a base under this one. I used OPI
Rumples Wiggin' but I'm thinking now that a light grey base would be wonderful with it!

Next up is
Facets of Fuchsia, the purported Deborah Lippmann
Bad Romance dupe. I say purported because I don't actually have Bad Romance to compare, but I've seen comparison swatches and they sure look like dupes to me!
It went on nicely and opaque in 2 coats. It's a blackened purple base (very blackened) with small fuchsia glitter and larger hex glitter. Blingarific!

And finally,
Blue Mosaic - the most in-your-face bling of the three. It's a clear base chock FULL of small aqua blue and navy blue glitter with large aqua blue, green and silver hex glitter. This formula was the worst of the three, but still not TOO bad, considering it's a glitter. Again, the base is clear so I just applied it over a fairly neutral polish I was already wearing...Dior Exquis, which you can see poking through. And I used three coats of this one while I only used two coats on the other two.

If you're into glitters, I think you'll definitely want to pick these up. I found the last ones of Starry Pink and Blue Mosaic at my local grocery store, HEB Plus and picked up Facets of Fuchsia at Ulta, where they still had full displays of them. They're $4 to $5 each.
And just for the heck of it and because it's so late and my dogs were kind enough to keep me company this evening while I suffered through glitter removal, here's a gratuitous shot of Twinkie licking Murphy's back while he sleeps. *grin*

ReplyDeleteFacets is a dead on dupe of Bad Romance. I have both. The blue glitter if layered over a dark blue is almost exactly like Across the Universe. Nice budget friendly alternative to the Lippmans. I am a sucker for dog pics.
