MAC Dark Angel Swatches and Review

MAC Dark Angel

MAC's Dark Angel is from (I think) 2006, but it's now a part of the permanent collection and still available. In addition, it's one of the mini polishes they're releasing with their 2011 Holiday Collection called The Dazzlesphere Collection.

With MAC polishes, I'm never quite sure what I'm going to get. The formulas aren't consistent. I just reviewed MAC's Festive Finery and the formula on that one was spectacular!  Dark Angel is a really pretty opaque dark purple creme (although it could be called a crelly because the first two coats go on like a jelly) and it did get fully opaque as promised. It took three coats to even everything out, though. The first coat was streaky, which doesn't really alarm me because a lot of great polishes are like that. But I had cuticle drag as well. And more cuticle drag on the second coat. It did even out with the third coat though and it's gorgeous.

The first 2 photos are the most color accurate, but it does read differently in various lighting.

  1. That is one gorgeous polish. I don't have too many MAC polishes. Simply because the ones I want always sell out! Your right about the formula. That's another reason why I don't buy them. It has to be something really special for me to order one. I only shop online so when they sell out I'm out of luck. You have gorgeous nails!

  2. Wonder how close this is to ChG's Urban Night?

  3. Too bad MAC are in my banned list for being non-cruelty free brand! I had my eyes on this one for such a long time, especially when I got my "Rebel" lipstick (which went in the trash bin recently) ... Anyway, its a gorgeous color though, but I'm sure I'll be able to find dupes of that ;)

    1. Yeah this was back in 2011 before I went CF and while they were still CF. It's a shame because it really was a pretty color!
