This means I will not be purchasing or reviewing any more products owned by companies that do testing on animals.
This also means this is my last Sally Hansen post/review. I really loved their Complete Salon Manicure Line. Also no more Rimmel of London. And no more OPI. And no more Essie (and the list goes on.) But with the plethora of other great brands that do not test on animals, I won't be hard up to find polishes to review that I really love. Trust me. (Chanel, Dior, China Glaze, Cult Nails, Zoya, Milani, Revlon and a TON of others. High end and low end and everything in between.)
So here it is, my last Sally Hansen. And I picked a pretty one! Well, actually it's what I was already wearing and I thought I might as well do one last review before I take it off.
This is a really rich plumy purple that is a highly pigmented creme and opaque in one coat, though I used two coats just because I'm used to it and like to make sure it all evens out.

This color is sooo pretty on you!!Its soooo sad to know that OPI & ESSIE are not cruelty free =[ !!!I want to support cruelty free products...but its sooo hard to not getting OPIs!!!then I think will at least get more ZOYA!> < !!
ReplyDeleteI've always liked China Glaze better than OPI anyhow. *sigh* Still, with all the new brands and a ton of the old stand-by favorites, I won't be deprived. And I doubt it will cut down on my spending one bit - LOL! That Holland Collection, though. I wanted every single one of those. But I just can't anymore. When I saw the youtube clip of those beagles the other day, that did it. They'd been tested on their entire lives and had never seen the sun or put a paw on grass. I know I'm not going to make a difference, but I will feel better.
ReplyDeleteWell, I've decided I'm going to join you. I will no longer be purchasing anything from the companies on that list. Thank you for linking this information.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I already have a lot of polishes that are from some of these brands but I can at least stop contributing to them. Also like you, I have always felt bad about it but played ignorance even though the information was out there for me to find.
I'm with you on OPI vs China Glaze, but I am so sad to hear that Essie is on that list :( I had no idea. I just assumed that, in 2011 (almost 2012!), these brands would ALL be cruelty free. I'm seriously considering joining you ...
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome Starification!
ReplyDeleteAdina.J, As far as I know, Essie itself (which is now a subsidiary of L'Oreal) doesn't test on animals, but L'Oreal does. So it's a grey area that each person would have to decide for themselves. For me, the money ultimately goes to a company that isn't cruelty-free, so I've decided not to buy Essie anymore.
What's odd is I tweeted about Sally Hansen testing on animals and they tweeted me they didn't. I still haven't researched it further (ie, asked My Beauty Bunny blog about it).
ReplyDeleteSally Hansen itself may not test on animals, but they're owned by Coty who DOES test on animals. For some the fact that SH itself doesn't is enough. I've decided to go with what the parent company does. It's just a personal choice.
DeleteShiela I love your posts, and I am a huge animal lover (dog lover) and advocate for pit bulls. I am seriously considering joining you in this endevour. I haven't researched anything about how animals are tested. Is there any info you can give me about it that won't make me sob like a baby? YOu can message me on FB, because I won't know you replied here. :o)
