Here goes!
First, let me say that they are quite pretty and blingy, if not entirely unique. I think this is her first foray into nail polish, so I'm not going to write them off as a brand just yet.
I knew because of the size of the bottles that the brush was going to be short but that wasn't much of a problem for me. I'm generally pretty good at polishing my nails, even with sometimes challenging grips, caps and brushes. I did find the application to be a bit streaky, though, and I used three coats with each of these.
First up is Mad Max. I had the most difficulty with this one and probably should have used 4 or 5 coats instead of just the three because you could still see my nail peeking through in a streaky manner (especially in the 3rd photo.) It is a pretty shade of blue though. I was hoping to see more of the duochrome I saw in the bottle. It was there just slightly, but I really couldn't capture it in the photos.

Next is No Regrets. It's a pretty, bright pink that has lots of shimmer. The application on this one was a little better and I did feel like I got better coverage and less streaking in the three coats I used.

And finally, Wonderchild. It's a pretty medium purple with lots of purple/amethyst and blue shimmer. The duochrome I saw in the bottle was much more apparent on the nail than in Mad Max, but hard to capture on camera. The third photo shows it best. This was my favorite of the three. The application was about the same as in No Regrets. Three coats covered adequately.

All in all, after I actually got them applied, I liked them better than I thought I would initially when I swatched them on a nail wheel. My first thoughts were of polishes you might find in children's play make-up kits. After using them, I can say that's not entirely the case.
These polishes are Limited Edition and only available at Sephora for $12.00 each. For only .25 ounces, that's a little high, in my opinion, especially since you need a minimum of 3 coats.
I might buy Wonderchild again, but I'd probably pass on No Regrets and Mad Max if I had the chance.

I agree - Wonderchild is by far the most interesting of the three. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the other two. They are pretty, but I feel like I've seen them several times before.

I am not a fan of these types of finishes for some odd reason. Wonderchild reminds me of Gosh Gasoline!
ReplyDeleteThat's IT!!! I knew it reminded me of something. Actually, the blue one applies about like Gasoline did for me. The purple one had better application. I'd actually give Wonderchild a higher rating than Gasoline. I had that once through a trade and gave it away.
DeleteI've been meaning to buy some OPI nail polishes, but after reading your cruelty free section I've changed my mind. I'll stick with Zoya! I had no idea they were part of the chain of companies who still animal test. It's amazing that we've come so far as a race, but we still test on animals. So disgusting! End of rant :)
