NerdLacquer Holy Grail - PIC HEAVY

UPDATE: Amanda is back!

So we're revisiting some of my favorites! Can't wait to add to my Nerd collection!

NerdLacquer Holy Grail
NerdLacquer Nail Mail!

After this post, I don't think I will deserve the title Glitter-Hater anymore. No more thinking Lynnderella's Connect the Dots was but a mere blip in my otherwise unspoiled Glitter-Hater reputation. When I saw the description of Holy Grail at NerdLacquer's Etsy shop, there wasn't any way I could pass it up.

"What were you even doing on a glitter polish shop site to begin with" you ask? Well, She created and named one of her polishes Don't Blink. What true fan of Dr. Who AND nail polish could pass that up, I ask you? There is also one called Exterminate! How cool is that? I may have to order that one next time.

Holy Grail's description from Amanda, Ms. NerdLacquer herself:

HOLY GRAIL is a super-fine-grained satiny linear holo in a dusty blue-green base with silver microglitter, medium blue-green iridescent glitter, and a liberal sprinkling of big square and hexagonal silver holo glitter. Oh, also? GLOWS IN THE DAMN DARK.

Glow-in-the-dark linear holo glitter polish. That's about all that needs to be said.

Yep, that about covers it! This one has me rethinking whether I need MORE of her creations. I'm leaning toward YES at the moment.

On to the photos! I apologize in advance for so many. There's just no way to capture every nuance of this one. Since photography isn't my strong suit, I'm sticking with the theory that more is better here.

Two coats for full opacity and one coat of Seche Vite in all photos. You will need to give the bottle a shake as the larger glitters like to settle to the bottom. And the addition of a top coat didn't seem to diminish the linear holo effect at all! Also, this one is not a top coat eater. I used only one coat of Seche. I might add another coat, but for now, one seems to have done the trick!

And where's the linear holo you ask???

I got'chyer linear holo right HERE!

Closeups? Well I am not the greatest at those (one of these days I WILL read the instructions for my camera) but here are a few...

The only thing I wasn't able to get? The Glow-in-the-Dark properties. I wasn't quick enough to capture it. It does glow for a very short amount of time but someone quicker than I am will need to snap a photo of it. Honestly, it would be totally cool, BUT it's not necessary. This polish would be awesome without it.

UPDATE:

She will be selling on nerdlacquer.com and re-stocking
Ninja Polish so keep an eye out!

Holy Grail is part of a limited-edition duo and retails for slightly more than her normal polishes. This one is $16 (for a full .5 ounce bottle) and available through Amanda's Etsy Shop: NerdLacquer on Etsy. She only has her shop open when she has stock, so I suggest adding her shop to your favorites and following her on Google + to find out when the shop is open if you're keen on any of her polishes. If you want to see descriptions of all her polishes, you can click on "sold" on the left side of her Etsy page to see bottle shots and descriptions - even when the shop is closed.

NerdLacquer NEWS!!!

Holy Grail has proved so popular that she is going to expand that as a line of linear holos with glitter!!!

She's already decided on the name and theme and says it's "awesomely dorky" and will be revealed on her Google+ page shortly. Expected release date, best I could figure (and I am no good at math) is anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks. Be sure and follow her Google+ page for details!

I'll be reviewing Don't Blink soon, but I don't see me taking this one off after only one day so it may be next week. Stay tuned!

Do you like this one? Do you have any NerdLacquers? If so, what's YOUR favorite?

Don't forget to enter my Spring Giveaway here - ends March 13th at midnight!

  2. i just got my first package of nerds in the mail on friday - holiday sugar plum, entirely unlike tea, and nebula. i've worn IUT and have HSP on now, and WOW! i love them. so much, in fact, that i spent two hours obsessively refreshing harlow & co's website to buy two of three polishes she did exclusively for them x]. they're so unique and beautiful.

  3. I have one on the way, I think you call me sexy. It's blue and glittery which pretty much hits all the bases for me. Very excited to get it. I think she and the lady who does Dollish Polish do some very unique colors. It's nice to see someone come over to the glitter side.. it's so much sparklier here.

  5. Holy Grail looks soooo gorgeous on you! I'm wearing it now too (as a gradientish over Zoya Kristen though) and am loving it. And yay Don't Blink! (blink and you're dead) Exterminate is awesome but as a Doctor Who fan you so need Regeneration. It's incredibly beautiful and even non-orange fans love it. Or you know, you need them all XD

    1. Yes, I saw your pics! Looks great as a gradient! And yes, sadly, I need ALL of them now. I wish Tennant had never "Regenerated" though. LOL!

  6. It is an amazingly beautiful polish, don't get me wrong...but I really don't think I could ever justify paying $16 for one bottle of polish. Ah well :(
