But first, the reviews. The polishes were typical butter LONDON formula - highly pigmented, went on smoothly and were fully opaque in two coats.
Yummy Mummy had the best formula of the three...smooth like buttah! No issues with
Trout Pout either.
Teddy Girl being a pastel pink and very pigmented was a little thicker than the other two so I had to be careful to use a very thin coat and then a medium coat and resist the urge to go over it or mess with it. But it wasn't "gloopy" like some of the paler colors can be. Overall, very satisfied.
I will admit I was hesitant with the Lippys. I'd received as a gift the lip gloss that matched No More Waity Katie quite a while back and I really didn't care for it. I was hoping the formula had changed and was delighted to find out that it had! These Lippys aren't exactly what I'd call a typical "lip gloss" because they're very highly pigmented like a lip stick, but with a high shine gloss. I'd heard already that they were very sticky and had a strong smell. Well, they actually are a bit sticky. When I first applied them, I wasn't sure I was going to like them because of that. But after I applied them, they sort of "settled in" and wore quite well. I actually put off this review until I could get to the MAC counter and try their lip gloss. I'd heard how sticky it was and after comparing the Lippys to MAC, I can safely say these are only about HALF as sticky...if that.
As for the smell, I am VERY sensitive to smells. I get headaches and nausea. For example, I had to get rid of my Dior Waterlily and Forget Me Not polishes because someone thought it would be a good idea to make scented nail polish. NOT! (butter LONDON if you're listening, scented nail polish is NOT WHERE IT'S AT!) I didn't actually notice the smell of the Lippys until after I'd read about it, but it's a very light fruity scent that fades quickly. I had no issues with it at all. It's actually quite nice compared to some lip sticks I've tried.
The Lippy wear test: I applied before breakfast and it lasted through about 2 pots of coffee and a full egg breakfast, more coffee, lunch with coffee and I didn't reapply until mid-afternoon. I've never used a lip gloss that lasted that long.
I've swatched the Lippys on my arm because, well...I'm over 40 and really no one wants to see them on my lips. I promise.
On to the photos!

Teddy girl is probably my favorite of the bunch! I was just eyeing it at sephora
ReplyDeleteI was thisclose to buying the Yummy Mummy Lippy the last time I went to Ulta but I wasn't sure about the wear...may have to go back and get it if it lasted through your breakfast until lunchtime!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great review! I wasn't even interested in the Lippy's until now. And I like the colors more than I thought I would. Awesome job Sheila!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review. I am very familiar with what I call BL's polish issues. I find them very inconsistent - some are sticky and stringy - others have that looks so much better in the bottle, but don't translate to the nail. Then I get a hit just about the time I decide to ignore the brand! Like many, I had wondered about the Lippies with all the promo on them. I will avoid. I HATE sticky lipgloss - and most of them don't last on me or make my lips peel. I am so stuck on Tart Lipsurgance (all 3 finishes) - going to be hard to get me away from those for a long time. I have been tossing glosses and lipsticks like crazy since Lipsurgance came into my life!
ReplyDeletethat's an amazing review dear, and those are freaking gorgeous!!! even though i'm not much of a fan of lipsticks or gloss those look pretty nice :D
ReplyDeleteYour swatches are very bad for my no buy.. I really want the first two. I didn't want any before. They do look gorgeous on you!
ReplyDeletethats great to have matching lipgloss! nice nude shades, i love these colours.
ReplyDeletethese matcing sets looks really great. I think this lip gloss is pretty good when it lasts so long.
ReplyDeleteYour nails look beautiful! I got Teddy Girl and I wish i could get it to work out so nicely on my nails. It always comes out streaky and I'm so impatient that it chips before it dries. I have to def look into the lip glosses.
