Water Marbling!

As many of you know, I struggle with "nail art." I'd tried water marbling twice before and never made it through 5 fingers much less ten. But we redheads, we don't give up easily!

So I tried again.

My first attempt I didn't know to use a base coat of color, but it still turned out "okay" for my first real attempt and I was shocked, SHOCKED I tell ya, that my guy actually loved them! I did tone-on-tone with purples. I used SpaRitual I Am the Light, Ripple Effect and Shoot for the Stars. (I don't usually have clean up when I do my nails so I really haven't mastered that yet. Apologies in advance...)

Since that went over so well and I got so many compliments from my man AND the clerk at Ulta, the SA at Dior, etc. I decided to keep practicing. I wore a black, purple and creme blouse so I coordinated the colors and used a base coat of Milani White on the Spot with Milani Black Swift, Milani White on the Spot and SpaRitual Shoot for the Stars.

Still having trouble with clean up even though I taped my fingers beforehand. Guess practice makes perfect with that as well.

I see all the lovely water marbles in blogs and on google image searches and I wonder if I will EVER be able to do it that well. Only time will tell! Have you tried water marbling? Any special tips or trick you'd like to share?

  1. Some people put Vaseline on cuticles instead of tape. Maybe that would make a difference?

I did watermarbling and failed so horribly. I felt that it was too messy and too much effort. You made out better than me! lol Looks very nice :)

  4. Not bad for your first "real" attempt! Should've seen mine..scary! I have found that a coat of glitter or NL covers all flaws! :)

  9. Vaseline works so much better because when its dry it just peels off, then just minor acetone to remove the rest. they look great.
