Chanel Canicule, the Heat and an Unwelcome "Guest"

Well today was definitely MONDAY. I started out not quite "up to snuff" and everything went downhill from there! Ah, really it wasn't a bad day but I did have my "moments." Today would have been my 19th wedding anniversary. (Next month will mark 7 years since his passing.) And I could almost hear him laughing at me today. He, of course, was the designated "killer of all things creepy-crawly." Yeah, he would have really laughed at me because at one point I ran from the room screaming like a lil girl. Yes, yes I did. Why?

Because THIS was on my kitchen floor when I got back from running errands in 106 degree heat.

Unwelcome Scorpion

He was smaller than the others I've found in my house before, but he was an aggressive lil bugger. He  curled up his tail and came at me! So after my freak out, I grabbed the can of insecticide and pretty much drowned him. #winning!

ANYWAY, in honor of the HEAT (and because Bill liked red,) I pulled out an OLD Chanel.

Chanel Canicule. I'm not sure how old this one is but it's gorgeous. It's a candy apple red with red shimmer and silver micro glitter and when I googled "canicule" I knew it must be my mani for today. Canicule means heatwave or scorcher in French. AppropriĆ©, n'est-ce pas?

What do you think? Red is supposed to be empowering! Guess that was what gave me the courage to kill the scorpion myself. LOL!

If you enjoyed this post, please take a second to "like" it! Thanks!

  7. Very pretty color! My mom has a scorpion problem and hate this time of year because they are always in the house. My kids aren't allowed to take their shoes off at her house. Thanks for sharing your story with us. Hope tomorrow is better.

  10. The polish is so pretty and yes, I would have flipped out of there was a scorpion in my kitchen. It would have stayed there forever or until Gary killed it because I was NEVER go near the damn thing. Gary is designated spider killer and moth catcher.

  12. Scorpions and 106 degrees - are you in AZ? I am too and that sounds like AZ to me! I *hate* scorpions. Thankfully I don't see them all that often but they are creepy little nasties.

  13. the smaller the scorpion the more deadly they are... please be very cautious & get someone to spray. I live in AZ & have them spray every month until winter comes.

  18. Pretty polish, awful heat and yucky scorpion. I have encountered a couple in California long ago and they are nasty. My heart goes out to you, I know I can hear my mom laugh and yell at me when the moment calls for it (4 years since her passing) so I can definitely see how he's still laughing at you.

  20. OMG! And I thought I had it bad with half dollar sized Cujo spiders! That would definitely freak me out big time~ luckily in Virginia, we don't have those. I'm very proud of you for killing it, I'm not sure I would have been brave enough. Told my parents last weekend that that is really the only reason to have a man around-to kill bugs! That Chanel is gorgeous! Suposed to be 102 in the shade around here-so I feel yah

  22. Scorpions were vaguely in the back of my mind when I declined a job offer in Phoenix six years ago, though I much better reasons than that not to take the position! That said, I am the least afraid of crawlies of anyone in my house. Spiders get to live and are cherished as they eat silverfish, which gnaw on clothing and books! I don't kill anything unless it harms me or my possessions.
