butter LONDON Brummie with Lovely Jubbly - Swatches and Review

Today I have for you two of the new butter LONDON polishes. I'm not sure of the details or collection name of one of them because I didn't receive a press release from butter LONDON on them.

Apparently there are three colors that are "Macy's Exclusives." Brummie is one of them, along with Cake-Hole and Squatter (and Alcopop - thanks to A Girl and Her Polish for the information) which I'll be showing you this evening or in the morning. I picked up Lovely Jubbly, along with Trustafarian and Shag, at my local Dillards. I'll be showing you those soon too.

First up, Brummie. Love the name! A Brummie is someone from Birmingham England. It's an opaque purple and it's being called a creme. Maybe it is. But based on the application, I would call it a jelly and based on the finish, I'll compromise and call it a crelly (creme/jelly.) It dries to a lovely "rubber" finish, or semi-matte, if you prefer.  I used two coats and thought I nailed it until I started to take photos and realized I'd need a third coat for full opacity.  So photos are with three coats. First without top coat and then with. You will notice "dents" in the photos without top coat because I guess I got busy before it dried completely. I put the dents in there - not the fault of the polish but a top coat magically cured them! No application issues. Good formula.

Lovely Jubbly is a glitter polish with fuchsia, blue, red and gold glitter pieces in a clear base. This one is part of their Fall 2012 Collection.  The name? Well Urban Dictionary gave me an assist on this one:

Superb, excellent, great, etc. 'Lovely Jubbly' was originally an advertising slogan for 'Jubbly', a triangular-shaped frozen orange drink which was popular in the 1950s and 60s. Later popularised by the character 'Del Boy' in British comedy 'Only fools and Horses'.

No application issues and I estimate it would be opaque in three coats, possibly four.

So what do you think? I'm actually loving both polishes! I had no issues.

butter LONDON polishes are available at butterlondon.com and selected retail stores like ULTA (and most recently, Dillard's Department Stores) and they retail for $14.00 for .4 ounces. To stay up-to-date on special deals and offers, you can "like" them on Facebook here. Lovely Jubbly and *Brummie are just two of the over 60 colors they offer, in addition to various indulgences for your hands and feet...and even your lips. The nail lacquers are 3-free and butter LONDON is a Cruelty-Free company. That's a major plus for me.

*Brummie is a Macy's Exclusive and can be ordered online at macys.com or picked up in store.

If you enjoyed this post, please take a second to "like" it! Thanks!

  4. What an interesting finish on Brummy... btw, have you heard or know anything about a polish listed on the BL website called Scouse? I can't find swatches of it anywhere.

    2. Will be interested to see that one despite I have had some real problems with this company and getting really yunky formulas.

    3. Actually of the 6 I've reviewed in the last 2 days, Squatter was the only one with a bad formula. You can look at my review and see what I've recommended as a dupe for it. The last time I got a butter LONDON with a bad formula was a year or so ago with Chancer. Other than that, I've had pretty good luck with them.

  5. So was this glitter crunchy? And I think you are saying you wore it over the purple one vs. showing it here 3 layers on it's own?

    1. Yes I layered two coats over the Brummie. But 3 to 4 coats should make it opaque. The glitter needed one coat of Poshe to make it smooth. Not what I would call crunchy. ♥

  6. Love your glittery accent nail! Goes perfectly with the purple!
