Curling Glitters? A Rant.

The other day I reviewed Sea Lore's newest Line, Triton's Daughters. I experienced NO curling glitters at all and stated such in my post here. This post isn't strictly about Sea Lore, but I'm going to use them as an example.

Apparently, though, there are some people who are going on and on about "curling glitters" when they must not truly know what that means. Now, let me just state for the record that I am not affiliated in any way with Sea Lore or the creator. But this isn't the first indie polish that I've seen people start something about.

I DO realize there are some horrible indie polishes out there that are nothing but crap in a bottle. And believe me I would definitely tell you if I got a hold of one of those. I'm pretty sure they know not to send them to me for review because I would skewer them. And thankfully I've done my research for the most part on the many MANY indies I buy so I haven't gotten a real "bottle o' crap" yet.

But for crying out loud, can't we just leave the ones that ARE good alone and stop taking it out on them for the indie polish makers who 1) have crappy CS and 2) toss crap in a bottle of base and sell it as good? What purpose does it serve? I'm trying to do honest reviews and give HONEST opinions of formula, wear, CS, etc. of the indies I have so that you guys can avoid the crap. And really, what's the point if people are going to ignore and start badmouthing the actual GOOD ones?

I said I was going to use Sea Lore as an example - because it's just the most recent example of this. She tested the glitters in the Triton's Daughters line for FOUR months. How many others do you know who test their glitters for that long? And I experienced NO curling glitters. At all. With any of them.

Here's a photo of Alana I posted earlier. Do you see ANY curling glitters? What you see are glitters that are well suspended in the base allowing them to "float" and catch the light in many ways. This is DESIRABLE. The glitters laid perfectly flat and everything was smooth with a coat of Gelous.

And here's a photo of Adella that I posted. Same thing.

These are extreme closeup shots. None of these glitter pieces are curling. They ARE catching the light though. That's what gives it interest both up close and from a normal distance. But this photo is NOT what you see when you're wearing it. At a normal distance you just get the depth and interest and play of light. Here is a photo of Adella (on the ring finger) at a "normal" distance. No curling glitters. These are not extra large glitter pieces!

I realize that people don't want to pay $7 to $16 for a bottle of indie polish that is crap. But because there are some out there who do that doesn't mean people need to give the good ones a hard time over non-issues. Let's support the good ones or they will all go away. I certainly don't want THAT.

And "taco glitter" is just what it sounds like. The larger glitter pieces curl into a taco shape.

So that's my rant. There are enough problems in the nail polish world, especially with indies, that I would think people wouldn't want to stir up things that aren't a problem. But what do I know?

I DO know that I have fun with my blog, which is the reason I do it. I love my readers and I know they trust me to tell them the truth, both when there IS a real issue and when there isn't.
