Of course I knew if I ever got the opportunity to obtain it reasonably, I would. It was made before L'Oreal bought Essie AND it's no longer available to purchase from the company, therefore no money going into the pockets of the company from me.
What: Essie Starry Starry Night
How: I swapped around until it was MINE!!!!
I wore it alone the first time, built up the jelly with 3 or 4 coats. It was pretty! Today I'm wearing it with some underwear. Gotta conserve that bay-bee!
First photos: The first time I wore it, I didn't wear a base color with it - 3 to 4 coats and one coat of top coat.

Some of my long-time readers may remember when I tried to franken it - without ever having seen it in person. You can see that post here. Now that I have the real thing, I wanted to see how I did.
How do YOU think I did?

Oh, so pretty... *drools*
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous, your frankens are so close. Great job!
ReplyDeleteFirst and foremost, I just saw a bottle of this go for $130 on eBay a couple of weeks ago. When I saw you post Not-So-Thrifty-Thursday, I was convinced that you were the buyer! I am SO relieved to see that you were not the crazy lady who bought it and that you did some awesome swapping instead! :)
ReplyDeleteSecond, and maybe it should have been foremost, I actually think I like your franken better! I think you have an amazing eye to have been able to dupe it viewing swatches. It's really beautiful. And so is SSN! Congrats on killing a lemming!
Hahaha! No, it wasn't me. I swapped some Nerds and a Lynn for it!But I haven't seen it go for "that cheap" (said tongue-in-cheek) for a long time!
DeleteExactly what Andrea said, without the first part.
ReplyDeleteAnd not because I care for the one who did buy it, but simply because I never got to see it for any less then $300 LOL
WOW!!! You are talented ♥
SO stunning! ♥
ReplyDeleteIts so pretty! And your Franken was very close!
ReplyDeleteThis is really lovely!!! :D I love your franken!!! :D
ReplyDeleteI'll buy your franken. Sheila never ceases to amaze us.
ReplyDeleteAhhh your swatches are so lovely! I wish I had SSN! It's great that you were able to get it by swapping around. :D
ReplyDeleteI think your frankens look pretty close to the original :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures, as always!!
Oh swoon. My heart breaks with longing for that bottle.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with your frankens! I can't tell the difference.
ReplyDeleteYour frankens are really close! wow.
ReplyDeleteDid you write down what you used, so that the rest of us that want this, can franken it as well?
Your photos of this sweet lady are beautiful. I had long ago convinced myself I would never get a bottle of this, and if I did @ say $40 (the then max being paid for it), I would regret it because I talked myself into it being an old one that others have come along just as good or better. But seeing you photos has brought me back to those feelings of lament again that I never got this baby! You are a lucky lady. Despite you did well on your frankens, still the original just smacks of something else. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful addition to your stash.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty color!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Your frankens are so close, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
ReplyDeleteoh you lucky girl!
