This evening I have 4 of the 8 fairly new BB Couture Classic Hollywood Divas Collection to show you!
I've split it into 2 posts because 8 is a little too many for one post. (See
Part 2 here.)
The Classic Hollywood Divas Collection consists of:
Audrey, Bette, Claudette, Elizabeth, Lucille, Marilyn, Raquel and Vivian
Part one will be Lucille, Marilyn, Raquel and Vivian
All of these have small holographic glitter pieces and small holographic bar glitter pieces in different bases. I'm showing all four of these without top coat so you can see the finish.
First up,
Lucille. I'm assuming this was named for Lucille Ball, the comedienne with the famous red/orange hair and undisputed top-rate comedic timing. Before
I Love Lucy, she was quite the beauty in such movies as
Stage Door, The Big Street, Without Love, Fancy Pants, Forever Darling among dozens of others. She was both a Ziegfield Girl and a Goldwyn Girl and was quite the femme fatale as well as a singer and dancer.

This one is a coral creme/crelly. The glitters show on this one pretty well and don't sink totally into the creme/crelly finish. I used 3 coats of this for full opacity. This one applies better with 3 thinner coats rather than 2 heavier ones. It's not particularly self-leveling but I didn't have any issues with it. Of the 4 polishes I'm showing you this evening this was the fussiest though.

Next up is
Marilyn. Marilyn is, of course, named for Marilyn Monroe, sexy yet tragic blonde bombshell of the 50s.

Marilyn is a sexy hot pink shimmer creme with the same glitter pieces as all the rest. Because this is a creme the glitters are not as apparent and get covered a bit by the polish. I actually prefer this look. Application was good and I used two coats for full coverage.

Next is
Raquel. Raquel is another bombshell who needs no introduction. Raquel Welsh was a sex kitten of the 60s and a Bond girl along side SEAN CONNERY! Yeah, I love Sean. Don't judge me.
Raquel is a brown jelly polish with the same holographic glitters as the others. It's buildable like a jelly with that yummy squish finish but 2 to 3 coats is enough for the payoff look. This one was my favorite of this part of the collection.

Finally we have Vivian. I had to chuckle at this one. I'm ASSUMING they meant to name this one Vivien after Vivien Leigh, diva extraordinaire of
Gone with the Wind fame. However, they've named it Vivian. The only famous Vivian I can think of is Vivian Vance - Ethel of
I Love Lucy. Somehow I'm assuming that's NOT who they meant!

WHATCHU TALKIN' 'BOUT, BB Couture? |
So let's go with Vivien Leigh, shall we? *giggle* Vivien Leigh was much more than Scarlett in
Gone with the Wind. That just happened to be her one of her first. She went on to star in several other now-classic films such as
Caesar and Cleopatra, That Hamilton Woman, Anna Karenina and
A Streetcar Named Desire, to name a few.

Vivian is a black jelly with a blueish tint at times and a greenish tint at other times. It's a true jelly which lets the glitter pieces really stand out. I had no issues with application and used only 2 coats for these photos. Both this one and Raquel are like pre-made jelly sandwiches in a bottle!

I absolutely love this - you couldn't have done a better job. I love how you included the photos and backgrounds of all of the legends. ♥ And Raquel is mt favorite polish of this group too!
ReplyDeleteI love the few BB polishes I have. Vivian looks gorgeous and I'm very tempted but bar glitter is just not my friends *sob*
ReplyDeleteKate these are short bar glitters - I had NO issues with them like I do the longer ones.
DeleteThanks hun. I may cave and grab this one as have been meaning to buy some more BBs and vivian is pretty unique:)
DeleteBtw, the scattered holo particles in these - are they similar the the Picture Polish ones like Kryptonite, Attitude etc? I love those ones because you get the bling of glitter without the pain in the arse of removing:)
ReplyDeleteNo they're not the kind in Attitude unfortunately. They're a bit of a PITA to remove.
DeleteI love the color of Raquel and Vivian, but do they have to have those silly bar glitters? I think for the classic beauties bar glitter is,how shall we say, gauche. Other than that they are gorgeous, especially Raquel, brown is my favorite color for fall.
ReplyDeleteAll are stunning. I love that you featured the divas behind the polish's name.
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of naming polish after famous actresses. I prefer Raquel and Vivian. Vivian reminds me of Scarlett's green dress made of velvet curtains. :-)
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY Love Vivian! Though what an oops for BB Couture! Gone with the Wind is my favorite film ever...so I must get this polish even if there is a spelling goof (I'll just correct it lol).
ReplyDeleteI love these! I can't wait to see the rest!
ReplyDeleteAww man...First polish I see with my name and I don't like it, all the others look good to me, except Raquel...
ReplyDeleteVivian and Marily are my two favorites of the collection :) nice swatch thanks!
