I never know how Monday is going to go so I'm going to take this opportunity tonight with a quiet house to show you a new-to-me indie polish maker!
XOXO Nails. I received 4 polishes to swatch and review yesterday and they looked so pretty I decided to try them out right away.
After the clean up.
THIS is what happens in the mail sometimes.
Everything was packaged nicely so there was no spillage on any of the other bottles, thankfully!
So please excuse the bottle shots photo - they would have been so pretty all lined up in their fancy bottles. The good thing though - now I'm sure she uses stainless steel balls!
So let's start with my favorite of the four - the broken one.
Coffee Date is a sheer nude-tinted base with small matte brown hex glitters and matte brown and copper microglitters. I've layered it over Kiko 399 - the new taupe holo. No issues with application, though it's a bit on the thin side and does need to be dabbed rather than brushed on. One coat of Poshe made it totally smooth.

Next up,
Love Potion. Love Potion is a clear base with various sizes of black and red glitter pieces. I layered 2 coats of this one over Kiko 400 - the new grey holo and used one coat of Poshe to finish it off, although on this one I would recommend 2 coats or maybe one coat of Gelous for a smooth-to-the-touch feel. I used the dabbing method with this one as well to get the glitter pieces all over the nail. No issues - no curling glitters.

Next we have Lucky Pink.
Lucky Pink is a clear base with pink shimmer, pink microglitter, various sizes and shapes of metallic glitter and matte black and white glitter. I used two coats, the second one mainly dabbing to get a good coverage of glitter pieces, over Kiko 402 - the new hot pink holo. No issues to report. I used one coat of Poshe but this one could probably use a coat of Gelous first to smooth everything to the touch. None of the glitters were curling - everything laid perfectly flat on the nail.

And finally we have Candy Girl.
Candy Girl is a milky white base with various shapes and sizes of multi-colored matte glitter pieces. The name is perfect because it does remind me of candy. This one is also a thin base and is sheer so it will need to be layered over a white polish, which I've done here. I used two coats, brushed on not dabbed and one coat of Poshe to finish it off. No issues to report. Everything laid down nicely.

I love Coffee Date and Candy Girl the most! Great swatches!
ReplyDeleteI like the red and black one best.
ReplyDeleteHow did you manage to scoop the remains of the broken bottle's content into the Poshe bottle?
When I opened it only the top fo the glass was broken - the neck part. When I started to pour it into the other bottle the whole thing broke onto the piece of paper I was working over. So I just made a funnel with it before it soaked in and poured it in. I can't believe how much of it I was able to save.
DeleteI love first and last! :-)

ReplyDeleteLove Candy Girl - but then this look is getting to the same level that Deb. Lippmann's Happy Birthday was - everyone has their take on it. But since I don't own one of them yet I still love looking at them all! I have frankened a few of my own but none came out that good (yet).
ReplyDeleteI like Lucky Pink and Candy Girl. I'm such a girly girl haha
ReplyDeleteThey're all very pretty, but I like Coffee Date the best... it reminds me of chocolate chip cookies!! :D
