Tonight I have a great green linear holo to show you and it's GORGEOUS! Unfortunately I didn't have any sun. Here. In South Texas. Go figure. But I'm not unhappy about it because it was actually cool today and that doesn't happen nearly often enough. But this polish is gorgeous in any light.
Unica is described as a hunter green linear holo but it doesn't really read hunter green to me - it is a gorgeous green though and in full sun has a charcoal/green thing going on. Application was perfect and because of how great this one is, I'm definitely checking into getting others from this line. I used two coats for the photos and one coat of Poshe.

What do you think of this one? My suggestion is that this is one EVERYONE needs in their collection. I have nothing like it and I'll need a back up for sure.
La Femme polishes range from $6 - $9 at Ninja Polish (Unica is $9) for a 9 ml. bottle. Make sure to follow Ninja Polish on Facebook and Twitter to stay up-to-date on restocks and promotions and for swatches and other information.

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, Sheila. I am going to be a little bit of a 'downer' for a moment.
ReplyDeleteYou see, I hadn't tried holos before, only looked at them online, and only on a couple of blogs. I saw some of the lovely pictures of green holos that you have swatched, (Unica, Kale, etc) and saw how much the gold tones stood out. So being a girl who LOVES any and all warmer or murkier greens, but gets a tad lobster hands with some really cool tone greens and some grey greens... I was saddened to find that my nice new Unica from La Femme didn't give any of that gold sparkle at all. A bit of 'holo' yes, golden or warm no. It is cool toned and even a touch silvery with all that holo dust.
I would like to request of you and other very popular nail blogs that you include one "Boring Pic", where we see how the polish is going to look most of the time. As I looked to the swatches for how it might look in real life (why else swatch?)
Your swatches are so lovely. But I should have used my noggin and realised that such swatches are meant to show only the very best light on each polish.
Sorry again for a negative.
Thanks for your response. Actually, I've always thought of myself as one who DID show the polish in various lighting with lots of photos so people can see what it really looks like instead of just giving you the "money shot" like so many blogs do with one or two photos. So I'm a bit saddened to think someone thinks otherwise. This is one of my favorite polishes so I'm wondering if you maybe got a bad bottle or if they changed the formulation. Most of the green holos seem to have a golden or warm tone, including this one except the more blue-leaning teal greens. I'm sorry this one didn't work out for you. Thanks for reading and for giving me your honest feedback though.
DeleteThanks for replying in return Sheila. I love looking at your pic heavy swatches, they bring out the best in every polish IMHO and it is obvious how much work you put into it! I am rather sorry for the tone of my comment.
DeleteYou also talk about skintone sometimes which I like. Perhaps it is also my skin tone that is showing Unica up differently, or something.
BTW - Congrats on winning the Pure Ice competition with your awesome butterfly nails.
