Zoya Gilty Pleasures Collection 2012

I'm a little late with this post. Mr. Migraine and Madame Nausea decided it was time to pay me a visit. I think they got here via food poisoning, but I'm not sure. Either way, I think I've finally managed to convince them to leave.

I wanted to show you the gold flake top coat Zoya recently released!

Their "Gilty Pleasures" boxed trio came with 18K, which is the gold flake top coat and Purity and Raven to complete the trio. Being honest, I would have preferred they just release it alone, but I'm not too disappointed. I had neither of the other two polishes anyway. I generally use black and white cremes for layering purposes only and really do like the Milani ones and the Pure Ice ones for that.

But the reason we all bought the trio is for 18K so that's what I'll be showing you. The flakes are the best I've seen so far in that there are a good size variety including larger flakes, unlike some of the others I've seen so far with the tiny flakes. The issue I did have with it though is that the base is quite thick and, um...oily? It's not really oily I don't think, but I don't know how else to describe it. The first 2 nails I did, I didn't get a single gold flake on my nail. I had to use 3 coats to get a good mix of flakes. Once applied, though, the look is fantastic! In my closeup, you will see bubbles. I don't believe that is the fault of the polish but rather me not waiting between coats. They are not really visible except in closeups though. I really didn't wait long enough for the red base to dry either and ended up smearing the index finger. I used Chanel Dragon in the index finger, Chanel Madness on the middle finger and a plain black creme on the ring finger with no top coat (other than 18K.)

I ended up wearing it like the photos below and I honestly ADORE it over Chanel Madness. In fact, I am STILL wearing the same mani and this will be the 3rd day. That rarely happens.

  3. Lovely! I found dabbing Gilty on to work the best. One coat that way, and a topcoat smoothed it out nicely.

  4. Good to know Nija will be coming out with gold flake at $10/bottle - wonder also how it will look compared to this and the OPI Man With The Golden Gun? I am also an owner of this Zoya set as well as the OPI Man With The Golden Gun - not thinking I want to pop for the $30 Jessica is going to charge for their version of the same thing...but my guess is a lot of other company are going to come out with versions of this. Nija is brilliant and ahead of the curve by doing a white gold as well as the yellow gold we have been seeing. I right off thought I want this kind of topper in white, rose and platinum shades. I am rocking the OPI version of this a top the Skyfall shade of Tomorrow Never Dies - cannot stop looking down at my fingers! It's beautiful and I think I will not tire of this look of gold flakes for a long time to come.
