SoFlaJo Party Time Collection

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm really excited to be showing you SoFlaJo's new holiday/winter collection called the Party Time Collection tonight!

The Party Time Collection is made of of 7 new and unique colors and you can tell Jo's been in her workshop working like a little elf to create these! I have the mini collection here, but you can see her full-sized bottles on her website here.

I couldn't wait to dive into these when I got them, so let's just do that here...


YULE TIDINGS

Yule Tidings is described by the maker as "a micro glitter mix of red, green and holographic glitters, and a few hexes and stars to remind you of a twinkling tree, sitting in a green base. Worn alone will require 2-3 coats for near opacity. As a topper it adds holiday sparkle to pale green or other undies." I chose to wear this one over Nails Inc. Stafford Terrace, which is a brown polish, and I think it really looks lovely! I've applied 2 coats alone on my thumb nail so you can see it on its own. I topped it with one coat of Gelous to make it smooth to the touch. No issues to report at all, smooth application, glitters spread nicely and laid perfectly flat on the nail.

RED CARPET

Red Carpet is a beautiful medium red matte polish. The creator has this to say about it: "Walk the Red Carpet at this party. This beautiful red matte polish I created will remind you of that experience every time you wear it. Opacity is reached in two coats." Application was smooth and easy and I used two coats for opacity. This one dried quickly, but not so fast that I couldn't get a great smooth finish, unlike some mattes I've tried. No issues at all to report. First photos are without top coat to show off the matte finish, but I can't ever resist applying a top coat to see how they transform, so the last few photos are with one coat of Poshe.

LAST TO LEAVE

Last to Leave is a medium-toned green matte polish and the creator had this to say about it: "Everybody knows those people that are the Last to Leave the party. This green matte polish is dedicated to the last one out the door when the party’s over. Oh yeah, please turn out the lights! Opacity is reached in two coats." This one went on perfectly, just like Red Carpet - I did use "underwear" for this one though.  For me, I would need three coats of this one for opacity rather than the suggested two coats, so I layered it over a plain lime green polish. No issues at all. First photos are without top coat to show the matte finish and last photos are with one coat of Poshe top coat. For me, the flakes in this one really make it special - check them out in the close up shots below!

ICE DANCER

Ice Dancer is described by the maker as follows: "I love the sparkle and glitz of the costumes and the fancy footwork of Ice Dancers. When designing this holographic glitter mix of blues, silvers and browns in a blue base, I wanted a “topper” that could be worn alone with opacity in 2-3 coats or dress up favorite undies with its shimmer." Well I love it too! I love the brown and silver together! This one I decided to show you over several colors first. I chose to wear it over Dior Gris Montaigne myself, but there's no limit to your options. I did try it alone and it is fully opaque with "undies" in 2 heavy coats or three normal coats. HIDDEN GEM

Hidden Gem is just WOW! The maker describes it as follows: "We’re rocking this party! I find fascinating rocks on my walks and break them open at home to reveal glittering treasures inside. Hidden Gem is a steely blue teal polish with flashes of green and blue flecks and rainbows of scattered holo. Opacity is reached in two coats."  And she's absolutely right to call this one Hidden Gem. It's opaque in two coats and really has a very tightly scattered holo. The formula was amazing and I have no issues to report at all. The holo was hard to capture in the photos but it's very apparent on the nail in real life.

BLUE-RAY


Blue-Ray is a bright medium blue matte polish that has a purple duochrome! Here's what the creator had to say about it: "Blue-Ray is a bright blue matte polish that brings technicolor to your nails with hints of purple. Opacity is reached in two coats." I did have to use three coats for full opacity but I attribute that to my nails being hard and stained. This one was a bit thicker than the other mattes in this collection, but not too thick to work with. I had a fight with my camera over this one. The purple color-shift is very clear in real life but my camera (yes, I'm blaming the camera and not the operator!) just all but refused to cooperate.

BALLROOM

Ballroom is a red duochrome that mostly reads sort of a berry rose color. It shifts from the red/pink/antiqued rose color to a coppery gold. The maker had this to say about it: "Our Ballroom is grand sized with opulent decorations in reds and golds. On the nail this polish glistens with flecks of red. Now turn your hand to reveal a golden glow. Opacity is reached in two coats." This one was fully opaque for me in two easy, smooth coats and I had no issues at all. It's really stunning. I particularly love the "in between" when it's showing both colors on the nail at the same time. It will definitely distract you!
