Zoya Lovely Collection for Spring 2013

Good Morning! This morning I have the Zoya Lovely Collection for Spring 2013 to show you!

Add caption

This is a pastel collection for Spring and consists of 3 shimmers and 3 cremes. Zoya describes the shimmers as "metallics" but I disagree. I guess you could say they have a bit of a metallic look to them in some lights, but I'd call them shimmers. The shimmer looks to be micro-glitter and micro-flakes, as you can see in the macro shots.

PIAF - Described by Zoya as follows:

Zoya Nail Polish in Piaf can be best described as a full-coverage, fresh forsythia yellow metallic. A custom runway shade originally created for fashion designer Zang Toi.

Color Family Yellow

Finish Metallic

Intensity 5 ( 1=Sheer - 5=Opaque )

Tone Cool

This one has more green in it than I expected and was pleasantly surprised by that - it makes it a little more wearable with my pale skin. Two thin THIN coats of this one work best. It's a bit on the thick side and doesn't tend to self-level and doesn't like to be over-manipulated. Best advice for this one is to get most of the polish off the brush and then do 2 or 3 nails without re-dipping for the first coat and then a thin to medium coat for the second. Two coats, no top coat for the photos.

NOTE: I NEVER color adjust any of my photos - this is color accurate based on the bottle I received. From most of the other swatches I've seen, mine is more green and much thicker than others. Not sure if I got a "bad" bottle or what.

GIE GIE - Described by Zoya as follows:

Zoya Nail Polish in GeiGei can be best described as a full-coverage, blushing cherry blossom pink metallic.  A custom runway shade originally created for fashion designer Zang Toi.

Color Family Pink

Finish Metallic

Intensity 5 ( 1=Sheer - 5=Opaque )

Tone Cool

This one wasn't quite as thick as Piaf, but I still recommend that you use a very thin first coat and a thin to medium 2nd coat and don't over-manipulate it. Two coats and no top coat for the photos.

JULIE - Described by Zoya as follows:

Zoya Nail Polish in Julie can be best described as a full-coverage, soft wisteria purple metallic.  A custom runway shade originally created for fashion designer Zang Toi.

Color Family Purple

Finish Metallic

Intensity 5 ( 1=Sheer - 5=Opaque )

Tone Cool

Julie is my favorite of the collection. It's not as thick as Piaf or GieGie so application was better on this one. I still recommend two thin coats for full opacity and smooth finish. Two coats and no top coat for photos.

BLU - Described by Zoya as follows:

Zoya Nail Polish in Blu can be best described as a full-coverage, lucky hyacinth blue cream.  A custom runway shade originally created for fashion designer Peter Som.

Color Family Blue

Finish Cream

Intensity 5 ( 1=Sheer - 5=Opaque )

Tone Cool

Blu is an opaque white-based light blue creme and the application, as I've found with most pastel cremes, a little more difficult than other cremes. Just use thin coats and don't over-manipulate. It's not self-leveling so patience is key for a smooth application. I used two coats and no top coat for the photos.

Zoya Blu

NEELY - Described by Zoya as follows:

Zoya Nail Polish in Neely can be best described as a full coverage earliest spring green cream. A custom runway shade created for fashion designer Peter Som.

Color Family Green

Finish Cream

Intensity 5 ( 1=Sheer - 5=Opaque )

Tone Cool

Neely's formula was much like Blu - use thin coats and don't over-manipulate and you should get a nice, smooth finish. This one had a clarity about it that reminded me of Depression Glass. I liked the color more than I thought I would! Two coats and no top coat for photos.

JACQUELINE - Described by Zoya as follows:

Zoya Nail Polish in Jacqueline can be best described as a full-coverage, perfect magnolia nude cream.  A custom runway shade originally created for fashion designer Peter Som.

Color Family Nude, Neutral

Finish Cream

Intensity 5 ( 1=Sheer - 5=Opaque )

Tone Warm, Neutral

I would say Jacqueline is definitely a warm-leaning neutral. Formula is the same as Neely and Blu. Thin coats and don't over-manipulate and you should get a nice, smooth finish. This one has yellow undertones and really didn't compliment my skin-tone at all but I can see it being a great neutral for spring/summer for someone with a little color to their skin.

  4. I love this collection! Blu and Julie are my favourites, I think. I also love Jacqueline but like you I have cool undertones so I think it would not compliment my skin very well, unfortunately :( Great swatches and review!

  5. Sheila, I liked your tips on how to apply the polishes for the best results! Thats always nice especially for a nail klutz like myself.

Piaf, Neely and Jacqueline would make very nice harmony/clash paired with some cool outfits in the right colours, they are good fashion colours. Neely is so pretty and minty!
GeiGei and Julie are nice to look at by themselves - but not on me!
