Thrifty Thursday! With Pure Ice En Vogue and Call Me

I'm back with Thrifty Thursday! Tonight I have a couple of Pure Ice polishes for you: En Vogue - possibly my favorite Pure Ice - and Call Me, a glitter polish.

En Vogue is a rust-colored creme polish that applies like butter - creamy and smooth. Two coats for complete opacity. Photos shown are with NO top coat. In fact, after I took the photos I noticed that you can see my fingers holding the camera reflecting in them. Sorry!

After those photos, I've included some photos of this mani with a glitter gradient on top using Pure Ice Call Me.

Call Me is a clear-based glitter polish with orange/rust/copper hex micro-glitters and small silver hexes. Application on it was great and all the glitters came out easily and laid perfectly flat on the nail. Those photos have one coat of Poshe top coat.

What do you think of these two?

Pure Ice polishes are available in the US at Walmart stores for $1.97 or on Bari Cosmetic's website for around $3.00. Also, be sure and check out their new website, Pure Ice Cosmetics (they have all the links there for Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, too!) and be sure and like them on Facebook for more information, swatches, giveaways and contests.

The Polish Bar - Party Dress

How about a newer polish from The Polish Bar? Today I have Party Dress from their Winter 2012 Collection.

Party Dress is described by the maker as having hot pink microflakies, pink holo hex glitters and fuchsia dot glitters in a sheer black jelly base. Actually I didn't find mine to be in a black base unless it's very VERY sheer black. Mine has more of a sheer deep violet purple base. And there's holo micro-glitter in there TOO! Regardless, it's a really pretty color and the base works great with the glitter. I have no issues to report at all on this one - everything went on smoothly and laid perfectly flat on the nail. I've layered this over a couple of different colors so you could see. Yep, I've worn it twice already. One generous coat of Poshe over each of them to finish it off.

Comparison Request: Chanel Cosmic Violine vs KBShimmer Cocoa Nut

Quick comparison for you...a couple of people made mention of KBShimmer Cocoa Nut on my Chanel Cosmic Violine post yesterday and while I couldn't wrap my head around the connection, you asked for it, you got it! They ARE in the same color family, so I guess it's not that big of a stretch as I thought initially, but Cocoa Nut is a glitter polish while Cosmic Violine isn't.

But the photos pretty much speak for themselves, so here they are! Two coats of each. No top coat.

The Polish Bar - Rainbow Jello

Good morning! This morning I have another polish from The Polish Bar to show you: Rainbow Jello.

Rainbow Jello is from The Polish Bar's Late Summer Collection 2012 and is described by the maker as a rainbow mix of matte hex glitters, plus different sizes of white matte glitters, white bar glitter and subtle shimmer in a white jelly base. This can be worn alone in 3-4 coats but I'm wearing it over a light coat of SoFlaJo White Sensation to cover my stained nails.I had no issues with formula or application. The glitters came out nicely, spread nicely on the nail and laid perfectly flat. One generous coat of Poshe to finish it off.

The Polish Bar - Wistful

Good evening! Tonight I'd planned to show you a few different polishes from The Polish Bar, but I've only ended up showing you one for tonight.

Wistful is from The Polish Bar's Late Summer Collection 2012 and I was going to swatch it, along with a few new offerings from The Polish Bar. HOWEVER, I liked this one so much, I stopped the swatching and put it on for my full mani. From The Polish Bar's own description, Wistful has sparkly blue hex glitter, tiny fuchsia and navy glitters, tiny holographic turquoise glitter and subtle shimmer in a creamy light purple base. I'd actually say this leans to the periwinkle side of purple and it's just gorgeous. This can be worn alone with probably 3 coats, but I chose to layer it over Nails Inc. Chalk Farm. I had no issues at all and the glitters spread nicely and laid perfectly flat on the nail.

As I said, I'd planned to swatch more to show you from The Polish Bar, but this was so gorgeous I couldn't bear to take it off. So stay tuned for others coming soon. Wait 'til you see the newest ones!

What do YOU think of Wistful?

Polish can be purchased at her Etsy shop. Also, be sure and like her on Facebook to keep up on news and reviews.

Chanel Cosmic Violine #497

Good Morning! Are you all "indie'd out" yet? Well me either, but I thought we'd take a little break with Chanel. I'm working on another indie polish post though! But today I have an older one - Cosmic Violine.

Cosmic Violine #497 is from Chanel's Summer 2009's Celestial Lights Collection and is medium ruddy reddish brown with gold and pink/magenta micro-glitter/flakes. It's like a lighter version of one of my biggest Chanel regrets - Feu de Russie. I really regret not picking up THAT collection. But this one is gorgeous - and probably better suited to my pale skin than Feu de Russie - and has a great formula. I used two coats with no top coat for the photos and had NO issues at all. Formula and application were great.

What do you think of this one? Do you have it? It's not one of those impossible-to-find or über spendy Chanels like the Russies, so have a look around the net and you can probably pick it up for a reasonable price.

The Nail Junkie - V-Day Line

Are you ready for a Valentine's Day collection? It's almost here! And I have a real Valentine's Day "treat" for you! You'll notice that she's named this collection the V-Day Collection and I'll let you discover WHY on your own - go check out her explanation on her blog here. (*giggle*) Oh and there are still a few days left to enter her giveaway there too - in the same post.

My friend Aleta, creator of The Nail Junkie polishes, marches to the beat of her own drum and that creative tune she hears in her ear is magic. Even when she does something "expected" (such as pink for Valentine's Day) you can bet she's put her own signature on it and this collection is no different. Including the name and what it stands for.

Bouquet is a deep pink polish with purple undertones and lots of multi-colored fine glitter particles. This dried matte but you can add a top coat to really bring out the shimmer. I was totally surprised that this in a one-coater! I had no issues at all with formula or application. This is ONE coat, first matte and then with one coat of Poshe top coat for the photos.

Love Letter is a symbolic polish with red, white, and pink mini sheets of paper (square glitters) and lots of  black ink (super teeny bar glitter and fine particle glitter) in a clear base. The glitters all came out easily and laid flat on the nail. No issues to report at all. In the bottle some of the glitters sink to the bottom but a good shake and they are well-suspended and come out of the bottle easily. I layered this one over Bouquet and followed up with one generous coat of Poshe to smooth it all out.

Cupcake is a candy sprinkled polish with red, magenta, and pink dots in a shimmery clear glitter base. I had no issues with this one either. In the bottle some of the glitters sink to the bottom but a good shake and they are well-suspended and come out of the bottle easily. Everything spread nicely on the nail and there was no digging for glitters or dabbing involved. I've layered this one over Bouquet and a medium grey (SoFlaJo Silverado) with one generous coat of Poshe to smooth it all out. Have I mentioned before that I love circle glitters?

Yes I freehanded the diagonals and once I cropped the photos, especially the close-up, I noticed that probably relying on my "naked eye" at "arm's length" isn't the best idea. LOL!

So what do you think of these? Do you have a favorite? It's hard picking a favorite of these because they work so nicely together.
