Milani Texture Collection

You guys know I love Milani if you've been reading long. And I was excited to find the new Texture polishes from Milani this evening. I don't buy OPI anymore and my Zoyas haven't arrived so I tried these on right away.

Turns out that they are one-coaters. I don't say that because I didn't want to put two, I say it because when you try to apply more than one (or even try to go over it at all) it changes. See the side of tainted in red in the first two photos to see what I mean. I started to go over it and that's what happened. So I stuck with one coat.

Then I wanted to see what they looked like with a top coat. BIG FAT FAIL.

So...here they are - six colors in all:

I absolutely LOVE the colors but unless there's a trick to applying them that I don't yet know, I'm not giving these a very high rating.

What do you think? Will you try them?

Milani polishes are available at retailers and e-tailers throughout the US and usually retail for around $4.49. These were $3.99 each.

If you enjoyed this post, please take a second to "like" it! Thanks!

  1. Hmmm - not sure I like these. :/ I love the shades but they kinda remind me of bubbly polish.

  2. I don't like these at all with topcoat. They are okay without.

  3. I wonder how they'll look like with matte top coat?? The finish looks rather "wet".

    1. that's because they take a reaallly long time to dry completely! -I mean even after they are dry to the touch, it's like they need to "cure" or something. Once they are fully dry they look much more matte and if you use two coats the texture WILL come out, just takes a while, lol -it only looks smooth if the coats are too thick or it isn't fully dry. IMO they look waaay better with two thin coats!

  8. No, I wont try them. I can't get used to that texture thing. OPI, China Glaze, Milani or whatever brand I just don't like it.

  10. I like the red and purple. I'm surprised there is no black.

  11. No..i dont like these at all. The texture has a vomit type look to it..atleast that is what first came to mind when i saw the swatches. Sorry to be crass. I have the zoya pixiedust collection and it is much nicer and has diamond sparkles in it...so much better. Thanks for the review,

  12. Not really feeling these. They don't seem to have the nice formula that I have seen in others, like Barry M. Looks kind of cheap. :(

  13. I'm not sure how I feel about these yet. I have texture issues. My husband thinks they looks cool though.

  14. Oh. This is not a good take on textured polishes...Other brands have much better versions

  16. I do like the color of Aqua Splash, Spoiled in Fuchsia, and Purple Streak, but the texture is weirding me out. I was on the fence on these, but I think I just fell off. Thanks for the review.

  17. Once more I am so with you - colors are great, finish less so. I love Opis textured finishes but these???? They look like wet wall paint - seems this textured finish finally isn't as easy to master...

  18. The tinted red (two coats) actually looks like texture of liquid sand from what I can see. Other wise, I am not sure, like the texture effect of these. I haven't seen pixie dust IRL yet. I have liquid sand and I think they are ok.

  20. First off I want to say that I love your reviews, and your blog, but I have to say that these polishes look waay better with more coats!! -And you CAN use more than one coat -it will dry down gritty it just takes quite a while, even after they are dry to the touch for them to look fully textured and completely matte. Also, the coats have to be thin. If they are to thick, or still wet it will look like the side of the red nail. Once it does "finish" they look great! If you are a fan of the textured finish that is! I loved the colors but kind of wanted a little sparkle so I sprinkled on some fine Holo glitter when they were still wet and It worked great to add that missing sparkle. It looked a lot like the pixi dust collection (I have both) but brighter colors and less expensive/no shipping!

  21. I'm looking at this again & reading some comments, and I think I've changed my mind. I'm gonna pick up a couple of these & give them a try. I want to get a real good texture, then top coat. I like that "under glass" look - is that weird? Colors are just too vibrant to pass, even though Pixie Dust coming out with 6 new brighter colors. The fact that there is no glitter in these helps. Curious to see how Milani compares to the China Glaze textures.
