It's Thrifty Thursday again! Tonight I'm bringing you one of the new Hard Candy polishes that retail for $4 at Walmart Stores...Crush on Lava!
Crush on Lava is a color-shifting multi-chrome foil-like polish. I have heard that it is their old Beetle. It is NOT. Beetle was more of a top coat color-shifter and this is opaque in two coats. I've also heard it's a dupe for MAC Bad Fairy. Again, NO. This one doesn't have the orange color-shift like Bad Fairy. I've also heard Nails Inc. New Burlington Place. Nope. Doesn't have the orange. BUT it's definitely that type of polish and in my opinion, they're different enough to own all of them and if you can't get the Nails Inc. one or Bad Fairy, which is VHTF and spendy now, it might be close enough to satisfy that want. I LOVED Hard Candy Beetle and the amazing color shifts when worn as a topper over a dark color for close to the same look. But this one is two-coats-and-go, which Beetle isn't. Depends on what you want out of it.
The brush is medium wide and flat, making it apply perfectly. The bottle is taller and skinnier and I was afraid it 1) would be easy to tip over and 2) would have a wand that was so long it would have too much on it to "wipe off," but I had no issues with either one. The formula is great and I had zero issues. Two easy coats for full opacity and no top coat for the photos. It was perfectly smooth to the touch. Wear on it was good - I had minimal tip wear and no chips. (I didn't use a base coat.)
Removal was easy, but sort of like a foil polish only not as difficult.

So what do you think of this one? Not bad for $4 and a 2-coater! I give it a polished thumbs up.
