Happy Tuesday! I'm working on a post for tonight starring a new-to-me indie brand that's just lovely. In the mean time, have a look at my nail art attempt for the day!

It's a Sideways Reciprocal Gradient. Now I didn't come up with the term "reciprocal" although it IS genius! I *think* maybe Globe and Nail coined that term - please let me know if anyone knows for sure. Even if she didn't you should check her out - she's AMAZING. I just scrolled through some of her stuff to see if I could find this reciprocal thing and I was in awe of her skills. I thought I'd come up with something "new" finally but alas...Hahaha! Story of my life. I don't know that anyone has done a sideways one yet though. Or there could be a kajillion out there.

I was wearing butter LONDON Tea and Toast and decided to extend the mani by doing a gradient with Chanel Eastern Light and Revlon French Roast.

What do you think? When my nails are short I like to do it length-ways instead of across to give them the appearance of more length.

ReplyDeleteOooh, I really like it sideways in the neutral colours!! When I did this back in October I called it the reciprocal gradient, and I hadn't seen anyone else do it before. A reciprocal in math is the multiplicative inverse of a number, so I though the term was fitting for the design. I'm so glad I've been seeing it around more recently! I hope you don't mind me linking to my original post, since you never mentioned if you actually found it or not! :)

DeleteDid you say your "attempt" at nail art there at the beginning? If you think this is an "attempt", you are crazy. This is PURE art, from the color combo to the whole reciprocal thing....math? I can't even spell the darn word! Thank goodness for spell check (tee hee)
