I was SO excited for this new aEngland collection, Burne-Jones Dream, and my excitement was certainly warranted. This collection, the first 4 of which I have to show you now, are my favorite type of holo polishes. I generally refer to this type of holo as the "aEngland Holo" but since these ARE aEngland, I'll just say they're a "tightly scattered" creamy holo. So when my
Ninja Polish package came, I did backflips. Well ok. I didn't
actually do backflips. But I did them in my mind!

This collection was inspired by a series of paintings by Edward Burne-Jones - The Legend of Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty.) You can read more about the inspiration behind these beauties and see photos of the paintings over at Lucy's Stash's blog here.

First, the formula and application on these, as you would expect from aEngland, is flawless, creamy perfection. Intense color-saturation. 'Like buttah!" Three of the 4 I have for you now were one-coaters for me (although I used 2 coats and no top coat for all of the swatches) and Fated Prince was a smidge thinner and took 2 coats. I have LOTS of photos, both indoor and outdoors so you can get a good idea of what the polishes look like in most lighting situations.

Briar Rose: This one is a red-based purple.

Rose Bower: Red, this one is RED. Definitely red.

Well there you have them! What do you think? Do you have them yet? Which is your favorite? For me, it's hard to pick a favorite because I love them all, but I guess if I had to, I'd pick Briar Rose.

DROOL! Amazing swatches Sheila! And I'm totally doing backflips that these are on the way to me too! Woot!!
ReplyDeleteI would like to thank you for posting swatches that give an accurate picture of what the holo will look like most of the time. There is nothing more disappointing than seeing a swatch buying the polish and it looks flat...because I do not live/work outdoors or in a light box.

ReplyDeleteWhen I just saw the flash pic of Sleepong Palace, it blew me away. I tjink it is the secret winner of this group! Of course briar rose is fantastic, but this grayish holo just won my heart when I saw the hiddwn purple/blue/orange shimmer! Woooow!!!
