Well I told you I was working on a huge post and I'm really excited about it. This collection for Summer 2013 from KBShimmer is magnificent. Truly. So I'll despense with the chit-chat. This time. <grin>

KBShimmer's Summer 2013 Collection consists of 9 new polishes and the Clearly On Top Top Coat makes an even 10. The OCD in me thanks her.

First, as usual, I'm going to show you my two favorites. The two neons in this collection, 24 Carrot Bold and Don't Pink Twice, are hands down the BEST neons I've ever tried. The formula on neons can be so tricky (think China Glaze from 2009 - gorgeous and a bit tricky to apply) but these are perfection. Smooth and easy - I did use 3 light coats and experienced ZERO dragging - they were perfectly self-leveling and these are definitely back-up-worthy. KBShimmer is calling them mattes, and they do dry to a semi-matte finish, like most neons. And I found them to dry very quickly.

The pink: Don't Pink Twice. This one has an almost translucent blue micro-flake.

An almost neon magenta pink, Don’t Pink Twice is the first of our matte polishes. This pink polish has a subtle blue micro flake that shines in the light. This polish is super pigmented for coverage in two coats. Shake well before use.

The orange: 24 Carrot Bold. This one has tiny gold micro-flecks.

24 Carrot Bold is a red-orange polish that is a stunning summer color. This orange polish has a gold micro flake that shines in the light. This polish is super pigmented for coverage in two coats. Shake well before use.

What's Your Damage? I've layered one coat of this one over a plain white creme. One coat of Clearly On Top for the photos. No issues to report at all. I didn't have any trouble getting the glitters out and spread on the nail.

KBShimmer What's Your Damage

What’s Your Damage? is a white crelly polish with neon glitters in pink and green. Black shreds and dots give this polish an edgy look that reminds me of the 80s and 90s. Due to the size of the large glitters, this polish may look best layered over white.

Recommended Coats: 1-2 Over White or 3 alone.

Blinded By The Bright is a neon yellow glitter crelly. It was smooth and easy to apply - no issues to report. Two coats and one coat of Clearly On Top top coat for the photos.

Break out the sunglasses, Blinded By The Bright is a shocking neon yellow polish make for the summer. No need to put on any white undies, this polish stands on its own. A rainbow's worth of hex shaped glitter completes this neon polish.

The Dancing Green has one of my all-time favorite color combinations: green and purple. Well ok, green and fuchsia and blue. It's a green crelly loaded with fuchsia glitters in various shapes and sizes in addition, well, let me just let the maker tell you. I've used 2 coats and one coat of Clearly On Top for the photos.


The Dancing Green is a bright green polish with a blue undertone. This polish features fuchsia square glitters, chartreuse dots, sapphire hex glitters and fuchsia dots. A subtle micro shimmer completes this emerald colored polish.

Totally Tubular is what I've been wearing for my pedi for over a week now and I love it. It's not anything I would typically chose honestly...teals aren't my favorite and I rarely put any type of glitter on my toes but I couldn't resist and I don't want to change it. Two coats of color and one coat of Clearly On Top top coat for the photos.

KBShimmer Totally Tubular

When I think of the 80′s and 90′s, I can not help but think of Valley Girls, Surfers, and the rad lingo that swept the nation. Totally Tubular is our nod to that era, with is almost teal blue green color, the fuchsia circles in two sizes, aqua circles, and other hex glitters in different colors and sizes. If you love Don’t Teal Anyone, this shade is similar, but not the same.

It's Razz-ical is so shimmery I'm ashamed that I wasn't able to capture it better but I can assure you that however gorgeous it looks in these pics is just a fraction of how it looks in real life. Two coats and one coat of Clearly On Top for the photos.

It’s Razz-ical is a red-violet shade leaning towards the purple side of raspberry. Loaded with holographic hex glitters in magenta, silver and pink, this polish is stunning in the light. This bold polish is a super pigmented jelly and covers well in 2-3 coats.

Grayscale is a clear-based black and white glitter topper. No issues at all to report. I've layered one coat over a grey holo polish (Kiko #400) and used one coat of Clearly On Top for the photos.


Grayscale is my ode to the black and white trend. Black, White, and Gray glitters are suspended in a clear base. Circles, hexes, rectangles, and squares in so many sizes make this an interesting topper over almost any polish you currently own.

Pimp My Pride is a perfect Independence Day polish...white-based with red and blue glitters. No issues to report. I used 2 coats of this one over a plain white creme and one coat of Clearly On Top top coat for the photos.

Pimp My Pride - This white based polish features metallic red and blue glitters in both hex and micro slice shapes. Best worn in three coats, or 1-2 coats over your favorite white. Sure to be a hit at your next summer outing.

Clearly On Top top coat was used on all these manis and I had no issues with it at all. It dries quickly and goes on easily. I didn't notice any bubbles and there was no shrinkage. The only thing I would say is that it's a great top coat in the same category as Poshe or Seche Vite but for heavy glitters, you need more than one coat, which is typical. It's not a "glitter top coat." Loved it!

I've already told you the two neon mattes are my favorites, but I have to give a shout out to The Dancing Green for it's perfect color combination and Totally Tubular because 1) that's just an awesome name and you can't deny it and 2) I'm not quite sure what I love about it, actually. But I don't want to take it off of my toes.
