Chanel 579 Paparazzi

Happy Friday!!!!!!!

Today I have a fairly recent release from Chanel - Paparazzi from their Avant-Première de Chanel Collection that was released in mid-April 2013. There were 3 new nail colors (and a re-promote of Provocation) in this mini-collection, Paparazzi, Cinéma and Starlet. The other two new ones just didn't call my name this time around as they didn't seem unique but Paparazzi practically screamed at me, begging, nay pleading, to come home with me.

Chanel 579 Paparazzi

Paparazzi is a rich terra cotta or burnt sienna polish with copper glass fleck. The shimmer is great and much more visible on the nail than I expected. It doesn't really show much at arm's length in indirect natural lighting but in the sun or in artificial lighting, you can definitely see it. No issues at all with formula or application. It's almost a one-coater, too! A decent medium coat, especially on shorter nails, would definitely be opaque. I did use two light coats here though and no top coat for the photos.

I've seen this described as a "plummy brown," a "china-rose," a "mauve rose" and just plain "mauve" and either I got a different color than they did or we all have different connotations of colors in our heads. Mine is definitely in the orange/brown family. Go figure. But have a look at the photos, which are color accurate, and you tell ME what color you think this is...

Continued after the jump...

  1. That is stunning! Already added to my wish list! I would call it a brown or sienna with mauve undertones.

  2. When I first saw this in stores I only looked briefly and couldn't tell it had shimmer--your photos show it off beautifully!

  3. I would definitely agree with you and say it's a terra cotta shade. I looked online to see if other swatches looked different and discovered that there is an older Paparazzi (208) that I would describe as a rose.

  6. OH MY GAWD!!! I so much did not have to see this... I only have one Chanel and I thought I was good. But I need this one bad.
I love everything about it: this "in-between" color, the hidden shimmer, the flakies, the glossy shine.... I know I tend to get over excited about polishes quite often and especially when you wear them. But this one just took my breath away!

  7. The first Chanel Paparazzi was #208, it's a shimmery coral/nude/granny color, so that might be the explanation...

    1. Granny color! LOL! Yes, I've seen 208 but these descriptions were for 579 - the new one. Unless they just pulled a color description without looking to see which Paparazzi it was. Probably explains it.

    2. LOL, all though I am a granny, I feel like Garfield (the cat): Age is just a state of mind with a healthy dose of denial, and unfortunately granny colors doesn't suit me well ;)
But yes, I think that could be an explanation ;)

  9. I have this and mine is this color, too. Chanel does like to reuse names so maybe they have older bottles as Marias Nail Art said. I like it much better on you! Its OK on me...not great. Too much burnt, I think. Or too much terracotta! I think you win the color description prize. I don't get any variety of rose at all! Each of us do see things differently, I guess!

  10. This almost reminds me of Delicatesse-- but more saturated. Would love to see a comparison

  11. Sorry to dig up an old post but how does this compare to Dior Tonka?
