Chanel 591 Alchimie - Swatches and Review

Nothing to Disclose

Good evening! Tonight I have one of the new polishes from Chanel's Superstition Fall 2013 Collection - Alchimie, the only Limited Edition of the 3 new polishes in the collection.

Chanel 591 Alchimie

When I first saw the preview photos of this collection, I was pretty sure I'd want Elixir and Mysterious but that Alchimie would be too gold and too much like Peridot for me. Peridot really did not look good with my skin tone. So, I naturally I ended up with Alchimie and passed on the other two. You just never know until you see them in person or you see truly accurate swatches.

Alchimie is definitely not a Peridot dupe. (I would compare them, but I no longer have Peridot.) It's a really dimensional golden green, almost metallic, shimmer polish. No issues at all with formula or application. I used two coats and no top coat for the photos.

What do you think of this one? I am FAR more pleased with it than I expected to be - it has enough green and it's highly pigmented enough so that it doesn't give me "dead hands" and I love it!

Chanel polishes are available at Chanel counters nationwide and at Chanel.com and retail for $27.00. Not sure about European/UK release dates.

If you enjoyed this post, please take a second to "like" it! Thanks!

  1. That could be my all time favorite green polish ever. I could get lost in that color. Simply gorgeous.

  4. I saw a review (I think on temptalia) in which the reviewer said this was brush- strokey-- almost like a frost. Did you experience that?

    1. Well I wouldn't say it reminded me of a frost at ALL (hate frosts) but you can see some brush strokes in the swatches. They weren't bad like a frost though. ♥
