Silky1Way Ribbon Scarves!

Today I have a different sort of post for you - SILK! Anyone who knows me personally, knows I wear scarves - a lot. Love scarves. LOVE. Almost as much as I love bags. Well, a while back I entered a giveaway over at Silky1Way for her handmade silk ribbon scarves - twillys. They're strips of silk twill, hence the nickname Twillys. And I WON!

I have a collection of quite a lot of Hermès scarves and twillys so my expectations were that these wouldn't be of quite the same caliber. WRONG! They are superbly constructed and luxurious. And she makes short ones AND long ones! I don't have any of the long ones yet, but I have two to show you right now - the short twillys in black and cream.

Continued after the jump...

First, the packaging was so cute...

Her labels...

And a comparison with an Hermès twilly for length...Silky1Way's is about 1.5 to 2" longer.

Mostly I wear these on ME but sometimes I put them on my bags. And now and then, I start out wearing them and they get transferred to my bag.

Here are a few photos of them on a few of my bags...

Wrapped around the handle as a protector...

And I frequently use them as make-shift straps for clutches...

Now if you'll please excuse some of the photos below...one was taken by my guy (and we're lucky it's not a thumb pic) and some were taken by me as sort of "selfies" which I abhor. I'm not really set up well for photographing myself (except for my nails) because I never really saw the need, being very UNphotogenic. But to show you the different ways I wear these, it was hopefully worth it.

Typical - around the neck...

As a headband...

And finally as a bracelet...

They're so versatile! I can get the short one around my waist as a belt, but it wasn't necessarily a pretty sight. I am going to have to get some of the long ones for that! I am sure you can think up many more ways to use them as well.

So what do you think?

Silky1Way Silks are available for purchase on the shop site here. You should also DEFINITELY check out her blog - lots of modeling shots and she's just posted some gorgeous new silk fabric that she'll be using in future creations. "Like" Silky1Way on Facebook for more news and information. The short ribbons retail for €48 and the long ones for €68. (The last time I checked, Hermès Twillys were around $140 (which is about €107.) These are 100% silk and measure about 90 cm x 5 cm.

If you enjoyed this post, please take a second to "like" it! Thanks!

  2. What a lovely prize to win! I love silk twill- it feels so luxe. :) I'm not very nice to my scarves though (they often have hair pin related mishaps. like holes. eek.) so I tend to stick with thrift store finds. Other than putting them in my hair, I generally use them on my handbags, and my shorter ones are often also used as bracelets. I love the look you did wearing both around the neck at the same time. Sometimes I'm not very creative or adventurous and I'm ashamed to say it's never crossed my mind to wear two at the same time. lol

  4. You're such a sweetheart! Just met Ms. S1W yesterday and she told me with a huge grin how much she loved your post. Since I know that she's often too modest to comment on entries regarding her abilities, I'll Thank you for this one on her behalf. :D Sending best wishes and lots of fun with your S1W ribbon scarfs, Macs
