discloshur (I am a dawg)
Hi! It's me, Murphy!
Mommy is takin' the day off for Christmas so I get to talk to you today. Me an' my sister Twinkie want to say Happy Howlidays to all of you and thank you for all the kisses and belly rubs you send us when Mommy posts our pictures. She is proud of us - we know 'cause she tells us all the time. We are good dogs, Mommy says.
This is the picture we made for you yesterday...
I was takin' a nap in the sun on our doggie futon Mommy keeps for us in her office. We like to be with her all the time - even when she's workin'. She likes to have us with her because she loves us!
We're havin' a good Christmas 'cause Mommy got us new collars and didn't make us wear weird clothes. And we didn't even have to have a B-A-T-H! Mommy spells it out but we still know it means bath 'cause we are smart! What it IS is...just when we get back to smellin' right and fully dawg, the human gives us one of these B-A-T-Hs with water and takes away all the good smells and makes us stink with fru-fru stuff.
Humans are weird.
Sometimes right after a bath, we can find something good to roll in outside. We get on our backs and roll and roll and get the dead bird or whatever it is all deep in our fur and make everything right again. Happy! And then Mommy gives us ANOTHER B-A-T-H. But we love her anyway.
We also got more toys to play with. A new Frisbee for Twinkie and a new Kong for me. For the longest time I didn't understand what toys were or how to "play." I don't remember much from before Mommy, but it wasn't fun. No one ever petted me or taught me how to play or gived me enough to eat. Human hands were only for hitting me and sometimes they used sticks like the kind Mommy uses to sweep and mop with. It hurt to walk because my paw pads were shredded and I was scared all the time and very sad. Mommy says there was no light in my eyes.
Mommy might give us B-A-T-Hs but she's nothing like the other humans I knew before. She always gives me food and love and kisses. She pets me and hugs me and plays with me. Twinkie tries to teach me stuff too. She's pretty bossy but I love her anyway. But I know Mommy would never use her hands to hit me. Hers are only for loving me. And when she gets out the sticks, she never hits me with them. She just cleans up the floor with them. I love Mommy. I can walk and even run without it hurting my paws! And I weigh almost as much as Mommy now! When I got here, I weighed less than half what I weigh now and I barely had the energy to stand up long enough to pee. (Oh and I learned to lift my leg too!) And I even learned how to jump up on the futon and bed! I didn't know how to jump before.
I don't know why the other humans didn't love me. I was such a good boy. I know 'cause Mommy tells me all the time what a good boy I am. I never bother anything of hers or chew or tear stuff up and I do whatever Mommy tells me. Before Mommy got me, I had given up. Humans were cruel and even though I was a very good boy I just didn't want to live anymore 'cause being alive wasn't nice at all...it was just hurt.
So before Mommy makes me get off the 'puter I just want to tell you MY Christmas wish.
I wish that no doggies had to live like I did before Mommy got me. I wish there weren't those other kind of humans. I wish I knew why those other kinds of humans exist.
I wish all humans like Mommy would go and rescue other good dogs like me.
I wish everyone who wanted a puppy would THINK first. Decide if they could take good care of one like Mommy does me. Mommy says the vet costs a lot of money but I'm worth it.
I wish people wouldn't buy puppies from pet stores. There are LOTS of doggies like I was. Good dogs who just want to love you and be loved...without anyone to love them. If you go rescue a doggie like me, you wouldn't EVER be sorry 'cause they would love you SO MUCH. They would be loyal and faithful and never ever let anything happen to you and love you forever and ever until they die.
I wish all doggies were as blessed as I am this year.
And here are some photos of us. Mommy says we are her beautiful babies!
Happy HOWLidays!!! ♥

DeleteMerry Christmas for you Murphy , Twinks and the rest of your loved ones.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have boys like you , we have two princesses, One we got from relatives after their rescue dog got puppies, and the other one we got from the shelter , the other one was too young to be alone. Our shelter baby ( they are still pups) is very afraid of things I guess she has a rough live before she landed in the shelter , they got her and her brother when both were 2 months old with a serious case of mange.
We got her but didn't know her brother was with her. We assume he was the one protection her cause he is more courageous I occasionally visit him in the shelter, My biggest wish is to take him home too. Pray for that, or that he gets a home. We see improvement in our lil one she is less afraid , people need to stop to be miserable with pets. And also start sterilizing them.
We have a rooster too he was on the street was being bullied and jumped in our yard , now we have him a year,he is happy hear, big yard, for himself, food and water he is a fatso now.
Oh I hope you, or someone, gets to give her brother a forever home! Bless you for rescuing!
Deletehope that too, Amen
DeleteMerry Christmas Murphy and Twinks - I am little Ivan, a cat purring into your ears!
ReplyDeleteHere in Denmark we do not have puppy mills nor is it possible to buy puppies in a pet store. Cats are not sold in pet stores either, but we also not do count as much as dogs in the mind of a lot of people.
I was as a kitten left to fend for myself in a summerhouse area by the people who "loved" me so much during their vacation, and after they left and didn't come back, I desperately had to find people to feed me, and I found a small village. But no one fed me or cared - they all saw me 2-3 weeks, but there was this kindhearted woman, who did care, and she asked my new parents to come and pay a visit...
Well the rest is history now, as they say, I unfolded all my charms, and I'm now a strong neutered teen cat living here with my two big brothers and some dogs, no offence, but they are, well dogs :)
What a sweet post, thank you. And thank you for being a special human to two shelter dogs! Merry Christmas!

DeleteTwinkie wasn't a shelter dog. I was blessed with her when both of her humans got called to go to Iraq at the same time, so she came to live with me and make my life so much richer. ♥
Delete♥ ♥ ♥ Merry Christmas Murphy dog, Twinks, Sheila and alllllll your family and loved ones!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd may your wish come true! ♥ ♥ ♥
Hugs Jin and best wishes for the holidays to you my sweet friend. ♥
DeleteWhat a wonderful post Murphy Dog!
ReplyDeleteMurphy says thanks ♥ Hope your holidays are the best ever Kelly...you and your whole family. ♥
DeleteThanks for the sweetest post ever, Murphy Dawg!
ReplyDeleteMurphy and Twinks send their doggies kisses. ♥
DeleteWe love you Twinks and Murphy!! What a great post! All of my dogs have been rescues and they are the best dogs I could ever ask for. <3 Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for rescuing! Merry Christmas! ♥
DeleteBless your mommy for saving you. I believe we all have a guardian angel and we are all guardian angels to someone (human or animal) in return. Happy holidays to Sheila and her fur babies from me and mine.
ReplyDeleteAnd back to you! And thank you for being a guardian angel. ♥
DeleteAwww! This made me both smile and sad. So glad you turned his life around and both of them know only love and kindness now! Merry Christmas to you and your fur kids, from me and my fur kids! :)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you as well and your furbabies! Twinks pretty much "rescued" me by coming into my life when I needed her so...it's only fitting I could rescue Murphy. ♥
DeleteHi Murphy and Twinks:
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for writing to us. You both gave your Mommy a nice break on Christmas and you also helped us understand how the world looks from your point of view. Since my fur babies are feline, I am less familiar with the world according to dawgs and really appreciate your sharing.
Hoping you had some special treats for Christmas! :D
Mommy gave us special treats and we played and played outside until it rained. I tracked mud all over the house but Mommy didn't yell. She just got out the moppy thing and sighed. We've both been napping at her feet all evening and every day is like Christmas because we're not hard to please at all. Mommy calls us her big bundles of pure love. ♥
DeleteThat sounds like so much fun-- playing in and tracking in mud with no yelling. Teek aka Mr. Beeker-- a gray tabby sends hugs. <3
DeleteAwww...tears. Both of my furbabies were shelter kitties and they have brought so much to our life. I can't fathom what makes people able to abuse animals but it makes me heartsick. But we can change one life at a time and they change ours as much as we change theirs.
ReplyDeleteExactly - one life at a time. Hugs to you and your kitties! ♥
DeleteThey're both so cute. I love that pic they are both running along the beach (?). Looks like they are laughing of joy - I'm sure they are :o).
ReplyDeletePure joy - dogs are the best at experiencing pure joy in the smallest things. ♥
DeleteMerry Christmas to you too - I am a cat but I know so well what you are talking about. My mommy adopted me too. I now have a wonderful life too - since more than seven years now. Mommy tells me also every day that she loves me so and I love her to run for any wish and whim I can think of. In Switzerland we never see dressed dogs or cats, only those who unlike me don't get winter fur would get a warm little coat on icy days!!! I have the same wish like you for all dogs and of course cats - Meow, purrrrrrrr
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays and puppy kisses to you and your kitties! ♥
DeleteI pray every night that your Christmas wish comes true for all the Doggies and Kitties in the world. The horses and bunnies and every four-legged creature deserves to be treated with respect and kindness at the very least. I don't understand how the cruel humans can do the things they do but it is up to those like me, your mommy and all the others that believe what we do to not only try to convince people to behave with kindness but to make laws that punish those who hurt the innocent. So, bless you and your mommy. I hope you have many years together to heal the hurt of the past. Thank you for sharing your story and your message. If we keep working at it, someday our miracle will come true. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteHello Murphy Dawg, my name is Buddy Fonzarelli. I am a Maine Coon mix. My people found me at the Humane Society. Like you, I had been in a place where the people...well, Mommy says they weren't really human...They hit me a lot, and pulled out my claws (not had them removed according to the nice vet Dr Smith, just literally pulled.them.out), and then they threw me away. It's not easy to take care of yourself when you have no claws, not to catch food with, or to defend yourself from things that want to hurt you. By the time kind volunteers manged to catch me (I was afraid, I wanted nothing to do with humans, period), I was very skinny, and thanks to a flea allergy, I had scratched and groomed myself nearly bald. Maine Coons have glorious coats, so it was very mortifying to look like I did, bony and mangy. When my mommy and daddy came into the Humane Society and down towards my window, I didn't even lift my head. Why? People couldn't be trusted, and who would want me anyway in the condition I was in? I'm not a vain kitty, but a cat's got to have some standards! Daddy wouldn't leave my window, so Mommy asked the nice lady if they could see me in the meeting room. I was freaked. I didn't know these people and the guy was BIG. I bounced all around the room, trying to get out the outer door and escape. They kept trying to pet me and hold me, and I'm embarrassed now to say that I nipped at both of them several times. When they said they wanted me, I got packed into carrying case and out the door we went. It wasn't very far to where they lived, and when we got there, they took me straight up to the second floor. I had my own box, my own food and water, my own futon and fluffy blanket, but I could SMELL other cats downstairs. One was a little, old lady cat, her I wasn't afraid of (Mom says: He should have been! lol), the other was another Coon mix male, hiss, Hiss, HISS!!! Daddy tried to get us together too soon, that didn't work so well. Mommy and Daddy both spent several hours a day upstairs with me, and sometimes I got to go down and explore the rest of the house will the other two were in a closed room with Mommy. Eventually, we were allowed to check each other out face to face. The old lady let us know we were both ill-mannered whippersnappers with a couple of swats on the head and then stalked away mewthering 'heathens!' under her breath. That Buster character, after over 2 years I'm STILL trying to convince him I'm boss, but mommy stands over us and says, 'Forget it guys, I'M the alpha! Then we start tearing around the house to see who can scratch all the scratching posts first, or even better, get to a clean box first. Who knew there was a place like this? One with kibble, and gooshy, and treats, and any people food we can con out of Dad while Mom's not looking. There's absolutely no hitting! Really! Is it like that in some other places? 'Cause it sure wasn't that way where I came from. I've slipped up and nipped a few times when I startled or frightened, but no one hit's me, and I'm always very sorry. It's all about cuddles, and pettins, and snoozing next to Dad or Mommy while they work, read or watch TV. I'm always nice and friendly to visitors (while that 16 lb chicken Buster HIDES).
ReplyDeleteLike you Murphy, my wish is that everyone of our fur brothers and sisters find these kind of people to take care of them and to take care of. The little, old lady is gone now, but she was a feral born under an apartment, Mom misses her a lot. But I climb up in her lap to make her feel better, Buster isn't a bad sort either, just spoiled, and hasn't a clue. He came straight from his birth folks to here, and never had less than kind words and cuddles the big chicken. We should all have that. I hope it happens soon.
I am so happy you published this again so I can share! Brings tears to my eyes and aches to my heart the horrible life Murphy lived before you. I wish I could give all the fur bebbehs the best lives they can have but I am too weak, my heart cannot take the pains of their hurts any more. God Bless you for giving these amazing bebbehs a wonderful home!
