The Polish Bar
Holiday 2013 Collection

Launching December 4, 2013

The Polish Bar's new Holiday 2013 Collection is made up of seven new polishes: Four holos and 3 glitters.

Continued after the jump...

The formula and application were both great on all 7 of these. The holos were smooth and easy and opaque in 2 coats. The glitters were suspended well and spread easily on the nail. No issues with those either - the only semi-negative (and that a bold-faced lie because it's actually probably a good thing) is that Snow Fall is really jam-packed with glitters so you have to be careful not to get too many glitters on the brush!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Chocolat is a stunning chocolate brown holo that leans ever-so-slightly to the cool side - like a Van Dyke brown. Two coats, no top coat.

Artificial lighting...

Indirect natural lighting...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

City of Lights is a deep teal holo - also cool-toned. Two coats, no top coat.

Indirect natural lighting...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dark Romance is a violet purple/aubergine holo that I actually find to be both cool and warm because of the brown undertones of the aubergine and the cool tones of the violet purple in the holo arc. So I think both warm and cool skin tones could wear this easily. Two coats, no top coat.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soirée is a really bright, cheery red holo. I used two coats and no top coat, but I might go for 3 light coats next time I wear it just so my stained nails don't peek through in the visible nail line. This one is more sparkly in person and has a lavender/violet flash that might be iridescent micro-glitter/shimmer or might just be the holo arc.

And I received a little packet of loose Christmas glitters so I tried them out for fun over Soirée!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jingle Stars is a sheer grey-based glitter polish with blue, silver, holo, grey and black glitters in various shapes and sizes. I layered this over a plain medium grey creme.

And I used some of the stars in the loose glitter packet to bling it out...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Snow Fall is a clear-based glitter with large white snowflake glitters and various shapes and sizes of white, silver, blue, green and holo glitters. I layered this one over a plain medium-to-dark red creme.

And with a blue accent nail...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Merry and Bright is a clear-based glitter polish with medium circle glitters in various colors along with a generous helping of green squares, hexes and green micro-glitter.

And more fun with the loose glitters...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well there you have them! What do you think? I bet you can guess my favorites...Dark Romance and Chocolat! But Jingle Stars is so much fun and over the grey base with the added stars it's a pretty amazing holiday glitter! What are your favorites?

The Polish Bar polishes will be available soon at their Etsy shop here. The Polish Bar polishes are now also  available at Overall Beauty! This new collection is expected to launch on December 4, 2013 at noon Central time. Stay tuned to The Polish Bar's Facebook page for more details.

  4. Hmm-- wondering whether this is a brown I could wear. Browns do not agree with my skin tone.
