Weekend Bits and Bobs: March 30, 2014 - Lipsticks, Eye Shadows, Nail Problems and CANDY

Nothing to Disclose
*These products are Cruelty Free

I picked up a few cheapie eye shadow singles and a couple of lipsticks and yes, even a few cheapie polishes!

Continued after the jump...

I don't discriminate with brand or price when it comes to polish or cosmetics. If it's good, I'll buy it even if it's 99¢! Especially if it's 99¢! So I decided to give these single shadows from Wet n Wild a try. If they're not good, I'm only out 99¢. Doesn't mean I don't love Chanel, but when I do it's because it good and not because it's Chanel. And Wet n Wild is one of the few remaining brands that is cruelty-free.

Bleached on the far right (above) is the only one I didn't like - but only because it's just glitter and I don't know what possessed me to get it. If you like glitter on your eyes, you'll love it.

They're surprisingly well-pigmented for 99¢! Brulee and Panther are matte and Nutty and White are shimmer. Brulee is perfect for covering the color inconsistencies in my lids and the warm brown of Nutty intensifies my green eyes. I still prefer the Wet n Wild Fergie Centerstage shadows but I give these a thumbs up. Now I just really need to learn to do a smokey eye. LOL!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have several of the Milani Color Statement Lipsticks and I absolutely LOVE them. So I picked up two more shades. Hot Pink Rage is a matte (sorry it's sweating in the pics and I don't know why) and Raspberry Rush is a shimmer.

Creamy and smooth, highly pigmented, long lasting and they have a slight fruity smell like all the others in this line. I just love them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, I picked up 4 of the 6 new Wet n Wild WildShine Street Art for Spring 2014 Collection (the other 2 were yellow and blue) and these are supposed to be Limited Edition.

L to R: Deception, Too Hot for You, Temptation and Cursed

Deception and Cursed are jellies and I think they'll be great for jelly sandwiches! The other two are going to be 2-coaters I think. I'll let you know more about the formula when I get to try them out.

I don't have swatches for you yet because, well, this happened...

While working on this...

You can read more about THAT on my FB Page or in this post where I discuss the pros and cons of short nails.

But I did finally find a great use for my butter LONDON Bread and Butter Pudding polish! My nails are stained and this sheer neutral was the perfect polish to protect my supernubs while they grow out past the quick (hyponychium) and aren't too sore to swatch. The acetone on my middle finger nearly sent me through the roof!

As you can see, my nail beds aren't all the same length so until they grow enough where I can even them out, I will find another way to show you pretty polishes! I chopped my right hand to match, but I didn't cut them into the painful area. I'll have to see how that's going to work. Thankfully, I have a few collections I'll be showing you swatched already - pre-rippage.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

And I'll leave you with this.

These are THE BOMB! Find them.

Have a great week!!!

  1. Nutty is one of my favourite eyeshadows of all time. Cheap, and it's a perfect all-over-the-lid colour since you can build it up a bit to make it darker in the crease.

  2. Being a massage therapist my nails are always that short or shorter! I don't have problems with the acetone but you can get them so short they hurt to use. I feel your pain but I like my little nubbins and think they look good with polish so embrace yours and swatch away!

  3. Gorgeous polishes and shadows - and those PB cups are the bomb! Super suckage about your nail though. :( ♥

  4. I like WnW eyeshadows, I tend to buy their trios or 8 pans, rather than singles.

  6. Aw! Poor nail! :(

That last pic though is gorgeous (I promise, not just because of the peanut butter cups!!)
