Dior Couture Color GelShine & Long-Wearing Nail Lacquer - Spring 2014

Nothing to Disclose

I debated long and hard about these photos. It just feels off to me I guess...swatching Diors with uneven nails and my hyponychium showing and all! But I decided that everyone has rips and breaks and different length nail beds. They still haven't grown enough for me to be able to even them up. But hey, that's real life! So I'm laying it all out for you - even with Dior!

Dior Vernis Haute Couleur Brilliance et Tenue Effet Gel

I picked up five of the new ones at my store.

Incognito is a re-promote from the Dior Addict Collection in 2013 (came out with Lucky, Plaza, etc.) but I didn't pick it up back then because I was afraid it wouldn't go well with my skin-tone.

The ones I didn't pick up are the other re-promotes:  Masai 853 and Nuit1947 970 along with Metal Montaigne 803 and Adventure 551 because they looked close to others I have. That's not to say I won't cave later though LOL!

There are more of these new formula polishes that weren't at my local Dior counter: Ruban 268, Victoire 758, Wonderland 575, Muguet 108, Palais Royal 503 (which I really want!), Junon 494 (which I also want), Trianon 306 (re-promote), Rouge 999 (re-promote)

Continued after the jump...

Unfortunately, I was correct about Incognito the first time...it's not great with my skin tone but it's such a pretty neutral! I'm sad. Great formula, two coats and no top coat for the photos.

Bonheur was one I almost didn't pick up because I'm not a pink-lover generally. But this one is so bright and happy and I'm glad I grabbed it. Creamy smooth formula. Two coats and no top coat for the photos.

Front Row is sort of a bright but deep fuchsia but the pink shimmer is so prominent that it morphs a lot depending on the lighting. Again, great formula. Two coats and no top coat for the photos. This one was really difficult for me to capture and I even blurred one of the photos on purpose to try and show how it truly looks.

Mirage is violet purple berry bottle of loveliness. Creamy perfection. Two coats and no top coat for the photos.

Pandore is a super bright tomato red. A MUST-HAVE red for anyone with neutral or warm skin-tones. Perfect formula. Two coats and no top coat for the photos.

What do you think? Which are your favorites? They are all gorgeous but Incognito didn't work on my skin tone and Front Row isn't my "cup of tea" as far as finish. I think it will be a favorite, but you know me...I'm all about the cremes and the shimmer just isn't my favorite. If I had to pick just two, I'd pick Pandore and Nuit 1947.

Please note that even the re-promotes are in the new GelShine formula with the new brush. They are definitely super shiny and I do actually like the brush better now. It's still flat and wide, but it's not beveled now. It's not as good, in my opinion, as the brush they used right before the fat, beveled one, but still good.

Dior polishes are available at Dior counters nationwide, including Sephora, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's etc. and retail for $24 to $26 per bottle. I picked these up at my Dior counter at my local Dillard's.

If you enjoyed this post, please take a second to "like" it! Thanks!

  1. These are gorgeous! And your swatches are beautiful and color-accurate, as always. All I saw was beautiful nails and polish! I'm definitely going to be picking some of these up!

  2. I love the new brush, but the colors are not original enough for me. I was contemplating most about Victoire (obviously!) and Riviera, but still did not buy. I hope Dior will expand this line in the future, their old brush is really hard to work with for me.

  3. I need Front Row! That one stood out to me immediately when you showed them all on one hand.

What do you think of the Gel Shine formula? I'm assuming it's supposed to look more like a gel manicure. Is the formula better or the same (or worse) than the regular Dior formula?

    1. I knew that one would be a reader favorite! Honestly I get great wear time with the old formula so in MY case, about the same. The new ones dry super shiny though and the brush - those are the two main differences I think.

    2. Thanks Sheila! I really dislike the brushes that come with the regular formula (too wide and big for my pinky and smaller nails), so I'm eager to try the new ones for that reason, but I might not get too many of them.

  7. I am so glad that you did this post-- the swatches are gorgeous. You capture the colors so accurately and I've been frustrated looking at the other online photos which are not true to color. It's helped me in my own decision. So I knew I had to have Mirage and I've been on the fence about Junon. Pandora is a bit of reach for me, and I would never have thought of it but the closest I have is Diablotine which has a different undertone so based on your enthusiasm, I am trying it. Incognito is a true neutral but somehow that's not good news for those with neutral skin tones. Anyhow, thanks for these gorgeous swatches.

  8. Beautiful swatches! Front Row reminds me a bit to Chanel's Temptation, any similarities? Thanks!

  11. The lady at the salon cut my nails too short I'm so annoyed as well. I've got my eyes on Tra la la!
