Color Club Poptastic Summer Collection...and MORE!

*These products are Cruelty Free

I'm back, as promised, with swatches of the Color Club Poptastic Summer 2014 Collection that I used for the Poptastic Toothpick Marble I posted on Sunday! And I have a few more Color Club polishes to show you as well: 2 polishes from the Cookies and Cream Collection and a 4-polish mini collection of glitter toppers called Poptastic Remix.

In case you missed the toothpick marble, you can check that out in my post here.

Continued after the jump...

First, the Poptastic Summer 2014 Collection! There are 6 new neon shimmer shades for summer. They all had the same formula and application except the blue, Bell Bottom Babe, was a tad thinner than the others, but still opaque in 2 coats. I'm showing you all 6 of these with 2 coats and no top coat. No issues to report with formula or application. Smooth, easy and nicely self-leveling. They don't dry exactly like the typical satin finish of a neon, but they're not high gloss either. Just about right in between. As usual, the formula on the "highlighter yellow" one, Not So Mellow Yellow, wasn't quite as good as the others at self-leveling. You just have to use thin coats and do not over-manipulate it. Still, even with that, I had no issues with any of them.

Bell Bottom Babe is a lovely medium blue (that almost leans to a cornflower blue) with lots of violet shimmer that appears to shift to copper in the shade.

Foxy Mama is a super bright orange loaded with yellow gold shimmer.

Kapow! is a "poptastic" bright barbie pink with violet shimmer. I had a little trouble capturing the shimmer in this one but it's very apparent on the nail in real life. It reminds me of Zoya Lola - but maybe a bit brighter.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not So Mellow Yellow is a "highlighter yellow" - you know, that super-bright yellow/green mix? It's WOW in person.  And it's full of yellow gold shimmer.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Peace, Love & Polish is a perfect pink-leaning coral full of golden shimmer. This one is tied for 1st place as my favorite of the collection.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right On is the other one tied with Peace, Love & Polish for my favorite of the collection. Except that it doesn't get along with my camera. It's one of those colors that is just super hard to get color-accurate. So I have no photos in artificial lighting. All the photos below are indirect natural lighting. The shimmer looks to be blue and sliver and in person this one will knock your socks off!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now on to the Poptastic Remix quad of glitter toppers...

These all 4 had the same formula and application. They are full of glitters that all come out on the brush nicely. No issues at all. The base is the perfect consistency to suspend the glitters while not being gloopy. I used 1-2 coats (depending on the "luck of the brush") of each of them with one coat of top coat. I've layered each of them over contrasting shades so you could get a good look at the glitter colors. They all 4 look differently in the bottles than on the nail.

British Invasion is "the purple one" and is predominantly hot pink, blue and white glitters in small and micro. I've layered this one over Not So Mellow Yellow.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do the Twist is "the orange one" and is predominantly hot pink, yellow and white glitters in small and micro. I've layered this one over Bell Bottom Babe.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Generation is "the pink one" and is predominantly hot pink, pink and white glitters in small and micro. I've layered this one over a more coordinating base of Sinful Colors Outrageous.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Woodstock or Bust is "the yellow one" and is predominantly yellow and white glitters in small and micro. I've layered this one over Bell Bottom Babe.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now for the Cookies & Cream polishes. There are 6 in the collection , I believe, and I have 2 of them for you. They both had the same formula and application. Smooth and easy. Fully opaque in 2 light coats. I've used 2 coats and one coat of top coat for each of them. No issues at all. The glitters layer nicely within the polish creating a sort of "jelly sandwich" or "pond" effect even though the finish is more creme than jelly.

In the Mix is a cool-toned mint green with loads of black glitters in small and micro.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Sweet Life is a light grey base full of black glitters in small and micro. This is definitely more my shade.

And I wanted to see what they looked like with a matte top coat so I used one coat of butter London's Matte Finish top coat over The Sweet Life- and I liked it better matte!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well there you have them! What do you think?

I absolutely loved the Poptastic Summer 2014 Collection. Every one of them. I will even wear Not So Mellow Yellow as a base for glitters or in nail art - but probably not on its own. My favorites are Peace Love & Polish and Right On.

As for the Poptastic Remix polishes, I'm not a huge fan of glitter polishes, as you know. And the color in the bottle is different from what you get on the nail because the concentrated glitter mix creates sort of an illusion...like "the orange one" (Do the Twist) has no orange glitters in it at all, but pink and yellow and white concentrated in the bottle like that appear orange. But the formulas are good.

I'm also not a huge fan of the 'speckled" polishes like those in the Cookies and Cream Collection, but that grey (The Sweet Life) is really pretty matte and I'll probably wear that one again.

The thing I like about all of the polishes, whether the color or finish is my cup of tea or not, is that the formulas are all consistently good in these particular collections. I do love it when I don't have formula issues.

Color Club polishes can be purchased at local retailers nationwide and online at various e-tailers or on the Color Club site - prices range from $5.00 to $8.00 per bottle. If you order from Color Club's site, you can get free shipping on purchases of $30 or more.
