Colors by Llarowe: Emily's Imagination Collection - Swatches and Review

*These products are Cruelty Free

LAUNCHING JULY 18, 2014

Today I have swatches of Colors by Llarowe's Emily's Imagination Collection - designed by their very own EMILY! Eight brand new beauties. And of course, once again, I took far too many photos.

But first...Colors by Llarowe is designing a brand new logo which she will show you soon and...wait for it...BOXES!

Okay so here we go...

Colors by Llarowe
Emily's Imagination Collection

This collaboration collection consists of 8 new shades in a variety of colors and finishes.

Continued after the jump...

I should probably do these in alphabetical order but I'm not - I'm doing them in order of my favorites. Number 1 first!

I'll Be Sea-ing You is an aqua blue shimmer polish - it's loaded with blue and violet/magenta shimmers that shift with gold and green and has an almost translucent appearance. Like cellophane! It's also loaded with color-shifting micro-flakes that make it super gorgeous in the shade. This one took 3 light coats and still in certain light I have VNL (visible nail line) but in most lighting it's perfectly opaque...you'll see in the photos. Three light coats and no top coat for the photos.

Plum Crazy is a lovely violet purple or plum creme with a subtle holo and loads of shimmer and micro-flakes in gold that settle into the base just enough to appear gold and a lighter shade of plum. This polish is perfection. It can be a one-coater even! I used two light coats with 1 coat of top coat for the photos.

Here Come the Brides is an off-white crelly glitter polish with glitters in purple, plum, lavender, blue, silver holo and black in varying sizes and shapes. Surprisingly a crelly glitter made #3 out of 8 and I'm as shocked as can be as it's not typically my preferred finish. But the formula and color mix on this one is just stunning and the colors of the glitters off-set the off-white base enough that it's totally wearable on my pale skin. Two coats and one coat of top coat for the photos.

At Last is a linear holo multi-chrome in a silver/charcoal base with a teal flash and predominant violet shift. No issues at all with formula or application. Two coats and no top coat for the photos.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dock of the Bay is a bright raspberry linear holo with a strong violet arc. In low light, it shows more of the red base. And it's a one-coater! No issues at all. I've used ONE coat of this with no top coat for the photos. Sorry my ridges are showing but I really wanted to show you this one with one coat.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Julia Roberts 1967 is a bright pistachio green with a subtle holo and either white or silver/translucent micro-flakes. The name totally cracks me UP! I mean I know who Damone Roberts is, but I bet more people know Julia, don't you? This one is lower on my list only because it's not a flattering shade on me personally. I mean I gave away Chanel Jade forcryingoutloud. Of course that was before it became so expensive, hard-to-find and highly sought after - difficult formula and all. Live and learn. It's a hugely popular shade though. As is the nature of shades with this pigment, the formula isn't as self-leveling as the rest and it's just a smidge on the thick side. That said, I used two coats and no top coat for the photos and it looks pretty good. Just don't over-manipulate it and use thin coats and you should be fine. The micro-flakes are FAB.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That Bloo is Mine is a medium blue holographic polish with loads of silver micro-glitters. The glitters do sit on top of the polish a bit so you will need top coat with it for sure. It's a one-coater though! I used one coat and one coat of top coat for the photos.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh Gumballs is a lavender-leaning bubblegum pink crelly with small and micro holo translucent glitters in hex and square along with a nice sprinkling of holo dust. This one was a tad thicker as well and doesn't like to be over-manipulated but I didn't have any issues with application though. Two coats and one coat of top coat for the photos.

Well, you see how they rank for me...what are your favorites? It's super odd that I picked anything in the "blue family" over the awesome that is Plum Crazy but that finish did me in.

  2. The Julia Roberts one made me go "heh!" out loud! I ended up not getting the rerelease of The OPI Damone Roberts because it was $20 for the bottle and $7 to ship. And I don't even like cremes!! So I'll get this instead. And many others I am sure! Bloo and Plum Crazy also great, they are all nice...I have many CbLs and love them all, they wear well on me. Thanks for your endless swatching, always top notch work and great photos, esp love the macros!!!

  3. I was so relieved when nothing jumped out at me from the last release - I am still kicking myself for not getting Concrete Jungle from the previous release - but I can't say that this time. Plum Crazy. OMG.
