And now here are my swatches and thoughts...

If you read my post here, you already learned my thoughts on Marsala as Pantone's Color of the Year for 2015.

I think it's going to be a great staple - a base to provide a nice contrast for your own favorite POP of color. I also think it can go wrong easily. By "go wrong" I mean, for me, turn into 70s and 80s "mom shades" easily. So how to you make sure it doesn't? Make it a HOLO OF COURSE!

Men Are From Mars-ala is an earthy, red-clay version of a brown-based burgundy with a strong linear holo. The formula and application were geat - no issues at all. Creamy and smooth - two coats and no top coat for the photos. Dries to a great shine.

Shade...

And what does it look like matte? Well let's look!

I actually think it's a pretty sexy look with a matte top coat.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

What do you think? I do actually think the linear holo makes all the difference in a shade like this, making it wearable for most skin tones. I personally like the shade, even if it were just a creme - or matted. But that holo definitely makes sure it's 2015 and not 1982.

Purchasing information above in the press release but Mars-ala makes its debut January 1, 2015...so mark your calendars!

If you enjoyed this post, please take a second to "like" it! Thanks!

  3. Hi Sheila, those of us old enough to remember 1982 (ahem...) certainly appreciate your input as to how to NOT look old-fashioned when wearing Marsala. I enjoy this holo take on the color and am excitedly looking forward to seeing what all the different polish companies come up with for the color of 2015.
