Press Sample

Today we continue the 13 Days of January Nail Art Challenge. It's just a shortened version of Crumpet's Nail Tarts January 31 Day Challenge for those of us too busy for the full one. We will be posting on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays throughout January.
This prompt is "Reversed Polarities" and I totally did NOT understand the prompt at all. I started to be a smart alec and paint an electrical outlet on my accent nail and call it good, but cooler heads prevail...or so they say.
So first, I did my best at interpreting it and came up with a dotticure I thought fit the bill...
I used Zoya Taylor and Emelia (both press samples) and did a simple dotticure.
And THEN I find out that reversed polarities means reversing the "typical colors" - for example, blue grass and green sky. So I came up with this.
I used Pipe Dream Polish VIP Pass as my base for the "sky" (purchased by me) with a black sun and white grass and plant.
My inspiration was this great mani from jamylyn_nails on Instagram. I just changed up the colors. (By the way, if you don't follow her - you are missing out - she's AMAZING!)
Be sure to check out the other great manis from the other nail artists in the links below!

Reversed polarities??? What does that mean? I would think the prompts would be open to personal interpretation. The first thing it brought to my mind was 1 the North and South poles, 2 a recipricol striped gradient (however you spell it) or 3 total confusion. So I saw that 1 blogger interpreted as I did with the reciprocal stripes gradient so far.... But then it could be a negative image like from a filmstrip too. I quite like your dotticure in the neutral shades. I really like wearing browns and tans and it only feels right in the fall/winter to do so. I may have to copy your mani for my next artsy mani on the go.
ReplyDeleteBoth these manicures are freaking epic.
ReplyDeleteI love the dotticure one, so so so so much. the brown and tan - perfect.
And then you follow up with that purple/black/white manicure, which is just so cool when you see it next to the original. Epic.
I love the first mani because it reminds me of a favorite thing: coffee. LOL!
ReplyDeletei love this mani because ti proves that sometimes, the simple ones really ARE the best xx
