Weekend Bits and Bobs Sunday, February 1, 2015 - Drugstore Beauty Haul

Hi guys! Today I have a few drugstore beauty products to show you. As you know, I do love my Chanel eye shadows, Urban Decay liners and Dior blushes and most especially my Dior and Chanel lipsticks, but I wear LOTS of brands and some of my everyday go-to products are drugstore brands. Meet me after the jump for swatches and my thoughts.

Because I rarely wear anything but taupes/browns/neutrals on my eyes, I like to experiment with drugstore brands in those colors I won't use often. So I picked up the Wet n Wild 391 A Art in the Streets palette. And no, I won't use any of the shades except the violet/purple one, but for $3.93 I can live with tossing the others when I've used up the purple. And, you never really know, do you? My tastes might change!

They seem pigmented enough for occasional use. Not Chanel-level, but not bad.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course I had to grab the Milani #65 Matte Glam lipstick while I was there. I love me some purple lipstick, yes I do.

But how does it compare to my beloved #34 Violet Volt? Other than being matte, of course...

I wore it today and it's not dry like I expected a matte to be. It stays totally matte-looking too! I've had about a pot and a half of coffee, breakfast and a light lunch and I'm just now feeling the need to reapply. It's great on the outer lines, but worn off in the center, as you would expect, so re-applying doesn't even really need a mirror since you're only touching up the center.

Retail $5.79 for 0.14oz. Thumbs up.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I picked up the Milani Rose Powder Blush in 01 Romantic Rose - I'm not out of my first one, but it's nice to have a fresh one. I am also hearing that this won't be limited edition this time, but part of their core line now. Retail $7.99 for 0.60oz. Looks like the logo is the only thing that changed.

And finally, the eyeliner. Hard Candy Stay in Line in Sigali.I use this in black nearly every day. It's not quite as smooth and creamy as Urban Decay 24/7 liners, but it also lasts me about 4 times as long. And replacing it is just $5.00. And no trip to Ulta, which is about 25 miles from me.

And again, it's not like I stray from the black liner often, so it's a good deal for me.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And in other news! I "fixed" one of my favorite rings with NAIL POLISH! It's costume jewelry but it was hand made and I got it in a little shop in either New Jersey or Pennsylvania (depending on which side of the river I was on and of course I can't remember.)

It had an overlay on the top part similar to the one underneath until I knocked it off. That left the ring with a not-so-pretty-oh-crap-I-broke-it look. So yesterday, I sanded it smooth and used Borghese Lira to paint over where the overlay had been, followed with top coat. And it's as pretty as ever! Men might have duct tape but we have nail polish!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I bought the cutest druzy ring from SaressaDesigns.com! The best part? She can make ANY size. No more trying to find something that fits something besides my thumb!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

And I FINALLY found a Balenciaga Club (2009) to replace the one that was stolen. It's not the lovely Galet color but black goes with everything, right?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And finally, I received this gorgeous compact mirror from a friend. It's hefty and gorgeous. Decorated with Colors by Llarowe Tank Tops and Flip Flops, Man in the Mirror and Rizzo. Hand made by @Verosa_s on Instagram - check her out!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's all for this installment! Have a great week!

XOXO,
Sheila

  1. Hi Sheila, I enjoy these posts on miscellaneous products. I also am a fan of Milani cosmetics -- I just can't see spending the shocking amount of money for a luxury brand (although I'm sure the difference in quality can be felt). Thank you for the reviews!
