KBShimmer Summer 2016 Collection - Swatches and Review

Hi everyone!!! *waves frantically*

Well, this will be my last official review post - at least for a while. Other pressing matters are taking up my time and so I must set the old gal aside for a while. I may still pop in from time to time, to rant, or show you something I'm excited about or even just a Nail of the Day or a Weekend Bits and Bobs post. But for now I'm not accepting anything for review. I do have ONE MORE in the vaults for another day but that's it. I've had a BLAST with you guys and I'm not going anywhere - you'll still see me around, whether you want to or not. And WHAT A COLLECTION TO GO OUT ON!

Christy over at KBShimmer doesn't waiver or falter. She puts out consistently good collections season after season. Something for everyone. And the names are always clever.  This one is no exception so let's have a look-see, shall we?

KBShimmer Summer 2016 Collection

Continued after the jump...

First, the cremes because you KNOW I can't resist a creme. All three of these were 2 coats and one coat of top coat. They do dry shiny and I don't think they are actually neon but they sure have that "look" about them in most lighting. No issues at all with application or formula and they are perfectly self-leveling.

How Low Can You FlaminGO? This one is a super bright hot pink, near-neon creme.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Playing with the Buoys -  I don't know how persnickety you guys are about colors like this, but for me, how much green is in it can totally change my opinion of it, so I'm probably going to get a bit more descriptive here than normal. Mainly because I'm not a huge fan of "sky blue" - which this absolutely isn't. And a more jade shade isn't really great on me.  I had a really hard time capturing it because there IS a bit of green in it. I'm not even sure the difference will show between my first photo below and my second one, but the first one is color-accurate because you can see it's just a smudge greener. It has a very Dior St. Tropez vibe, which is a common color at first glance but actually a quite unique shade. This has that vibe but it's a bit lighter.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Ready for a Good Lime - this one is a super bright, near-neon, slightly warmer version of a great, vibrant lime.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now how about some crelly glitters? There are two of these in this collection.

Don't Play Koi - White crelly base with aqua and coral matte glitters (and I think some grey ones too although I didn't get many of those - you can see some on my index nail and one at the tip of the ring finger) in various sizes. No issues at all getting the glitters out. They're suspended nicely in the base and disperse well across the nail. I used only 2 coats of this one with no issues. And if you've been following long, you'll likely have seen some of my swatches of crelly glitters I did have issues with in the past. It's not something I'm particularly great at applying, so the photos tell the entire story, at least in my photos.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Neon Me - this one is white crelly base with neon matte circle glitters in various sizes. I see purple and pink, yellow and green, blue and yellow-orange. Same formula and application as Don't Play Koi. 2 coats with one coat of top coat.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now the BLING - there are two super-blingy flake polishes in this collection. They are new siblings in the Birthstone Collection, which you can see here.

Gull, Get Real - I didn't do this one justice - I seemed to have lost the sun or something. It's a purple jelly base packed full of shiny metallic flakes and scattered holo and shimmer. No issues with application - 2 coats and one coat of top coat.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

One Night Sand - this one is the copper version of Gull, Get Real - a copper jelly base full of shiny metallic flakes and holo micro-glitter and shimmer. 2 coats and one coat of top coat.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Linear Holo - you knew there had to be at least ONE, right?

That's Nude to Me - this one is a sandy, warm nude linear holo. I used 3 light coats of this one for full opacity and one coat of top coat - no issues to report at all.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

And finally, the shimmers. There are four shimmer polishes in this collection and they are as varied as the collection itself.

Along for the Tide - this one is beautifully saturated bright blue shimmer with a smattering of scattered holo and I'm not SURE but along with the blue shimmer there might be violet or pink shimmer too. I would turn my nails a certain way and catch it but wasn't able to get the camera to play along. 2 coats and one coat of top coat. Smooth and easy application.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good Reef! - this one is a muted coral with a lovely coral shimmer and what I think is violet or pink shimmer as well! It's even more apparent in real life than the photos. 3 light coats and one coat of top coat, nicely self-leveling, smooth and easy.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mai Tai One On - this one is a sunny yellow full of golden shimmer. The polish is cool in tone while the shimmer is warm so this is one yellow that most skin tones will find flattering. No issues at all. 3 light coats and one coat of top coat.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Suit the Breeze - this one is a vibrant cornflower blue full of blue shimmer and possible violet or pink? and silver? - very shimmery and smooth formula. 2 coats with one coat of top coat.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

You probably already know which ones are my favorites...and least favorites. How Long Can You Flamingo and Ready for a Good Lime, of course, along with That's Nude to Me are my top picks. I'm not a huge fan of crelly glitters or white bases on my pale skin, but if YOU love them, then these are the ones you'll want because she has perfected the formula for sure. I used to almost CRY when I got crelly glitters to review, but these are as easy as cremes to apply.

Which ones will you be picking up?
